However, for Muslims like me, who have studied the history of the Congress Party in detail, it is evident that the party itself is primarily responsible for the plight of Muslims in India. While Rahul Gandhi frequently criticizes the RSS, his party governs three states-Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana. What prevents him from advising these governments to ban right-wing outfits? Over the past year, Himachal Pradesh has seen a surge in videos inciting boycotts and violence against Muslims. Yet, there has been no tangible action from the state government. Turning to history, the Babri Masjid debacle stands as a glaring indictment of Congress's duplicity. From the installation of the Ram Lalla idol inside the mosque to the unlocking of its gates and its eventual demolition, every pivotal moment occurred under Congress's central government. Examining communal violence further underscores Congress's failures. Take, for instance, the Hashimpura massacre of May 22, 1987, where 45 Muslim men were rounded up, packed into a truck, shot dead, and dumped. The then Chief Minister was Veer Bahadur Singh, and the Prime Minister was Rajiv Gandhi-both from Congress. Decades later, justice remains elusive. Similarly, the Moradabad Eidgah massacre of 1980, often compared to the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy, occurred under Congress rule, as did the Bhagalpur riots. These atrocities exemplify Congress’s inability-or unwillingness-to protect Muslims. Furthermore, Congress's historical association with the RSS raises serious questions about its current narrative. Neerja Chowdhury’s well-researched book, How Prime Ministers Decide, reveals that Rajiv Gandhi had direct interactions with RSS leaders, including Bhaurao Deoras, the brother of the then RSS chief. These meetings, reportedly sanctioned by Indira Gandhi, were held at the homes of prominent businessmen, such as Kapil Mohan of Mohan Meakins. Even after leaving office, Rajiv Gandhi met Bhaurao Deoras at his residence on 10 Janpath. Such revelations starkly contrast with the Congress of Rahul Gandhi's era, which vehemently maligns the RSS. This apparent double standard creates skepticism about the party's sincerity in opposing right-wing extremism. Given these historical betrayals and contemporary inaction, how can Muslims trust that the Congress party, or Rahul Gandhi in particular, is genuinely committed to combating the RSS and right-wing outfits? To many, it appears to be nothing more than a carefully choreographed charade.
