In Fortnite, the faster cars do _not_ actually "hit harder". On the contrary. The big lorry trucks are slowest but have the most hitpoints, and if you get some speed up and run someone over with a lorry they take massive damage and usually die. And a lorry smashes right through buildings! Pickup trucks also do decent damage to players, structures and trees. The sedan is faster on roads but deals very little damage to players. The Whiplash lamborghinis are very fast, but unless you use the boost while hitting someone you mostly only bounce them away (which might deal some fall damage) and the Whiplash usually bounces off strunctures or gets stuck instead of going through them unless you use boost (which uses up a lot of petrol). So, in a small circle, picking the fastest car isn't optimal, instead you should pick the lorry or (if you want better maneuverability to turn) the pickup truck.
