They actually HAD a girl Newsie in the live shows, but they didn't use her during the filming of the film. But there's no reason a girl cannot be a Newsie. As for not being flexible, that can come with plenty of training and hard work.

Eastern Washington has this big festival called Apple Blossom and the musical for next year is Newsies and I’m ridiculously excited, I swear I screamed when I found out 😂 This film is what I saw on Netflix and I fell in love, I can’t count how many times I’ve rewatched it.
