Bilkul nahi We need secular India where governance and policy making is separate from religious entities (temples, mosques, gurudwaras...) Today, the political parties are obliged to work for everyone, be it of any religion. Once the word "secular" is removed, they will work for a certain targetted section (which of course they do today also but after the removal, they will not be constitutionally obliged to work for everyone) We cannot put our nation in reverse gear. Are we moving the pakistan way? This is very worrying

Yes it was introduced during Indira Gandhi. And it's true that it's not properly defined in the constitution but so is the "reasonable restrictions of freedom of expression" which is sadly used to put people who protest against the govt in jails without trials for years! If anything is not defined, we must encourage a process in the courts and the parliament to describe it and not remove it just because it is is underexplained. If the west has achieved anything, it is because they ended their infightings which was catholic vs liberals and others. They separated the church from governance because it was against modernization. Today that role is played by religious entities which force us to remain away from each otherand promote enmity between us. This grouping of all communities within the country is detrimental. Secularism is a good legal framework but how we progress as a society together is upon us. India needs progressive laws and laws that are not based on religious lines.

When specified and termed as ONE WAY, you gotta follow the direction indicated by the arrow; no two different doctrines on the same track at the same time from opposite directions are allowed. And, that must not be considered as a violation of right to doctrine, preach, follow or critical of it. Otherwise, you have your way, to me, mine, not specified otherwise.

1947 partition was done by British thugs. Now Indians should do another partition among Sikh, Muslim Hindu & Buddhist people to divide the land for peace prosperity. 75 years of Brahmin vaishya rule has ruined all hopes of survival of 1947 secular India.

Prof Hilal Ahmed's is not an ordinary fellow in academic circles. SECULARISM as a concept depsite being being desirable has serious errors. This is what Nandi explored in his work on secularism. Moreiver, Bilgrami has further explored two concepts of secularism in India. Bharat ka Swadharm has nothing to do with majoritarianism, rather it will reflect India's democratic approach to deal with different faiths, culture, religions, sects, ideologies.
