The discourse was as lopsided as the family laws in this country. Two persons who believe in the same idea (as wrong as it may be) discussed why the idea is pure & pious. Seemed like watching a Republic show. The lawyer went in all directions without addressing the ONLY point of contention - penalising women for misuse of law. Even after confessing multiple times that women do/can misuse the laws, the lawyer calls each case as an “individual” case and pushes it under the carpet. Guess rationale is not to be expected. She starts with saying that law is designed to equate society and she ends with saying that law doesn’t necessarily have to be gender neutral. This sums it all. Finally, just like Godi media tries to set a narrative but the truth shines, so it shall here.

As a man I strongly support the laws for womans rights. At the same time woman rights activists need to condemn the misuse of these laws. Otherwise these laws will loose their value.

True, women need to realize that women are present on both sides, and they must support the right women. It's time for all feminists to wake up. Women who misuse the law make it harder for innocent women who truly deserve justice. Fake feminists and wrongdoers are like a disease that will eventually harm the entire community. Please be cautious and help remove the affected parts so that the women’s community can be saved.

Madam, mens activists shall be called husbands activists and womens activists shall be called wives activists?? Since, even the laws enacted for protection of women are used against the women folks of the husband's family... Make divorce easier for both men and women, it will solve most of the issues... PS: A women can file multiple cases against husband's family and yet contests divorce case parallelly.. Why not a marriage shall be considered to have dissolved if dowry or harrasment case is filed!!?

When I saw the thumbnail itself I knew that the interview will not address or even acknowledge certain undesirable tendencies among women. After seeing what people who have watched this interview have to say & listening to Atul Chaurasia on NL charcha being quite dismissive of the misuse of 498A & lifelong alimony being considered divorced women's birthright, TNM team's disparaging discussion on misuse of laws as not so prevalent as female oppression, I think the decision to not watch this interview was a wise one.

@ambar4605 I am a newslsundry subscriber & I appreciate many of their in-depth reports on several issues that made headlines like the electoral bonds. However since they joined hands with The News Minute, their stand on gender & news about Muslims has decidedly been one sided that is blind support for women r always right & if wrong then someone (a man) has forced them into wrongdoing, any call to reform Muslim society or discussion about negative stereotype reinforcing behaviour among Muslims, problematic verses in The Quran, hijab issue etc are immediately seen as Islamophobic. Wokeism has become the middle name of NL & their founder no longer writes forthright pieces calling a spade a spade the way he did before 2019. Nidhi Suresh & vrinda Grover are both renowned in their respective fields. But it is a great pity that NL did not find or was afraid of being denounced by their feminist colleagues notably from the TNM team of raising legit concerns about showing undesirable tendencies in women & holding them accountable for their unfair demands.

Ask Rajasthani men; in Gujarat, especially in Godhra, men have to give dowry to get married. I have personally seen this multiple times. In urban areas, a friend of mine decided to marry a girl, but the girl's family demanded that he buy one rickshaw for her brother and some gold. In the end, my friend told me that if he had known he could buy a girl, he would have never wasted time in love and would have concentrated on his job or career. 18:40

Dowry earlier became a property of the family. The dowry nowadays, if any given, will stay with women. It is a substitute for rights in property share for women.

I love you Virnda Grover!! Such lucid discussion which gave me a full understanding of what actually is happening! And made me believe more firmly that how men are spineless to stand with their own women (wife, daughter, sister) on the name of society, culture and just because of plain inconvenience. Ah...why do we have to be bothered about them! We are happy in our privileges. A very simple fact that laws are made on the basisnof data and stats and not just any individual case. Men in the comment section are burnt to theur core😅 as expected. Because they don't want to accept that how self serving they are and how much they don't want women to raise their voices again the atrocities committed on them by men!! We humans are capable of having two discussions at the same time. Unfortunately, not in this video. You can't say "but women", "but women", "but women" everytime guys. Let men have their "moment". Let their issues to be talked about without making it about women ONCE. Let's not bastardize the rhetoric by obsessing with what we're personally passionate about rather than having an objective opinion. This woman here seems to take more umbrage over women being called "gold diggers" than the suicide of a man which she callously brushes off as an unfortunate incident which she still caveats with a 'but'. It's like she can't resist. Even the face she makes while talking about it tells a story, like it's an inconvenience- which shows she really doesn't care about it, which is OK. But these people need to be grilled and can't be the ones influencing laws. This isn't a great interview either. You've gotta challenge them on their views and make them critically introspect their own arguments rather than just nodding at whatever thy say, considering this is a sensitive topic. So unfortunate.
