North East also pple didn't know but until now still they fought for statehood. Statehood isliye mangte hai because when a territory remins a ut, the central govt will have uncontrollable power over the territory. But when it is declared as a state central govt ka jo power hai wo half hojata hai. Aur pple bhi satisfied hongne ki ab hamara chalega and if we are not satisfied we can change the state govt . However as soon as it is a ut, govt don't give a fuck about wht is happening in the place or with the pple, they are far removed frm the realities of that place. And they start to misuse their power . Isliye bolte hai kya power should be in the hands of people and not the ruler . It is the basic rule of democracy
