Dr. Singh does not seem typically Indian. While his physical appearance suggests he is Indian, his thoughts and actions reflect those of a Western-educated individual, perhaps someone schooled at Oxford. In contrast, Modi embodies the quintessential Indian, and his team comes across as a band of thugs. Dr Manmohan Singh was the very epitome of decency and sobriety besides being a highly qualifiedworld respected economist of eminence. Neerajaji is overly optimistic when she says that MMS in his death is a unifying figure because the government is giving him a state funeral. The fact is, the State has to give an ex-PM a state funeral. But they are creating another controversy as Congress says, by cremating him on an ‘ordinary’ cremation ground they are insulting him. I won’t be surprised if that’s the government’s real intention.

Elections cannot take place without public participation. So I presume, all election records are PUBLIC PROPERTY. Public including political parties cannot be denied access to any election record. I think political parties should approach SC and I feel SC will strike down this amendment saying this is unconstitutional. Particularly when a court has already instructed to provide election record to EC

The person on the top makes a huge difference to a country. Manmohan Singh's decade was still the older secular India with the chaos and problems but remained a democracy. The decade after him has been the rise of fascism and Hindu bigotry of the worst kind. India has undergone a transformation for the worse in every way. Nobody is happy including the top people. Mistrust and corruption are the order of the day.

The only reason Manmohan Singh became PM in 2004 was that Sonia Gandhi, the victorious PM candidate of INC and unanimous leader of the future ruling coalition UPA, was ruthlessly forced to remove herself from democratically seeking the PM post due to the racist and openly fascistic threats leveled against her by the BJP and the RSS. The Indian voters gave Sonia, a legal Indian citizen fully adopted to traditional Hindu culture, the necessary electoral mandate to become PM but she was blocked totally undemocratically by a right wing, fascistic section of the Indian ruling establishment. There is no point whatsoever describing Manmohan as an 'underrated' or 'accidental' PM without seriously analyzing this blatantly undemocratic political coercion. Those who do talk that way only give tacit support to the fascistic Hindutva ideology of RSS and BJP and to ultra right wing sections of INC.
