Two of the five Americans detained in Turks and Caicos on charges of bringing loose ammunition onto the islands will go before a judge this week. Tyler Wenrich is set to be sentenced Tuesday. Tyler Wenrich's father Michael says he and his wife have been trying to keep their son busy and keep his mind off the proceeding as they wait for the judge to sentence him.

Every time I travel to another country I make sure I check my suitcase. Some prescription meds are illegal in other countries. I feel sorry for all of these people but you need to realise you’re going to another country with completely different laws. It might be nothing in the U.S but it’s a big problem somewhere else. I honestly hope the judge is understanding and lenient with these people and it also serves as a reminder to others to check their luggage.

There's no way 5 adults accidentally packed ammo. The biggest embarrassment here is the news painting these folks as victims of the judicial system. They committed a crime in a foreign country. I don't even have the right words to describe their stupidity.

Just so you're clear, you can't fly within the US with undeclared ammo in your suitcase. It's a crime in the USA too. You'd be facing prison in America doing this exact crime. Stay home if you want, but don't fly with weapons or ammo ever.

They should be nervous. The dude's wife clearly doesn't know how to be diplomatic. If he gets 12 years, which is justified, she is to blame.

Great reason not to go there , of course they should have checked their luggage . But great way to reduce the amount of people who vacay there .

I love my guns, but I'm smart enough not to travel to other countries with my guns and ammo. And since I can't easily carry my gun into other countries, I like the idea of a place with zero tolerance for guns. If I was going on a family trip to the Caribbean, I would go to T&C so my loved ones could be safe. I just wouldn't take the same luggage that I've used for my guns and ammo.
