I drove to gwadar from sheikhupura and on reaching the last check post , the Army officer on duty said why did you come here?its not safe for punjabi's to visit gwadar.and a soldier waved his hand to give us signal to move ahead and we should not worry about him.we moved ahead but it was so shocking to hear that an Army officer is discouraging tourists.i hope these matters have been dealt with.

Gwadar was the next big thing when Musharraf was in power. The city to rival Dubai, the deep water port that would be the world's envy. I was going to invest in Gwadar back in 2005/2006. I am so fortunate that I didn't. The people who bought plots back then have lost all their investment and there are several developments to have NOCs from the GDA but don't and some who do have NOC have sold plots and homes but have done nothing. I do believe Gwadar will develop but don't compare it to Dubai. In fact don't even compare it to Islamabad! If it wasn't for the Chinese the port area and surrounding areas wouldn't have got developed. Gwadar should've had a new International Airport 10 years ago and as far the master plan, why wasn't that done years ago! You have had 10-15 years of development and then a master plan comes afterwards. Get a grip on this otherwise you will lose credibility. Start to push this properly, get the airport quickly, fix the infra issues such as power, gas and water. And for god sake speed things up!

Can we not use Gawader port just now? Max motorways are ready and road links with Afghanistan and central ASIAN countries exist then there shouldn't be any hurdle to start shipping from Gawader.
