Wow. It's just amazing to see a city that old and that well preserved. 😲 That pizza looked next level. 💖 🍕 I definitely would not have gotten on that elevator a second time either. Nope. 🤣 I was amazed this entire series every time you moved hotels and I remembered that you were doing all of this out of two suitcases and two backpacks (and maybe an extra bag by the end.😉) Thanks so much for sharing this journey. 💖 -Troy & Aimee

Troy & Aimee, so glad you enjoyed it! Funny you mention the bags, we feel like it actually HELPS us with trips like this to avoid buying lots of things while we travel. We hold back a little space for gifts, wine, etc to bring back, but nothing like what we've seen where people bring an extra bag back or ship it back home. 😂 As always, we're so glad you're both along for the journey! -Howard

Aaahhhhh!!! Pompeii! You told me back in December you’d be posting your visit to Pompeii in a couple weeks. Ha! But it was so worth the wait. We toured it while we were on our Mediterranean cruise in 10/19…. We were in Naples and Pompeii on my birthday, 10/12. WHAT. A. BIRTHDAY. GIFT.!!! Pompeii tour during the day, and a whole Margherita pizza to myself for dinner. What I did see on your video, was a LOT of it we did NOT get to see on our tour. Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing me to revisit this beautiful and historic place. We saw a lot, but you guys made my visit complete. I’ ve finally caught-up on your videos…now I can go to bed with a smile on my face. Take care and safe travels! Love you guys, Virginia

Very cool, thanks for sharing Italy with us. I love Rick Steves! Catching part of his show on the radio Saturday mornings is a nice change from the news. How sweet you were on the pilot’s last flight. Those old elevators are equal parts fun and scary. Was this all October, or the end part into November? Weather looked brisk this episode. 🍕

@@NewstateNomads I've never seen that anywhere we've stayed. By the way, we went to Matera last weekend and enjoy a couple of the things you recommended: Casa Grotta and the cistern. Both were great. Also, because we speak a bit of Italian, I chatted with some of the locals who's families or they themselves had moved out of the caves for nicer accommodations. They were happy to move and their mostly living in the Barisano area. Since the 1950's wasn't all that long ago it was pleasantly easy to find folks who had lived that challenging life. They love that people are coming to their city and loving spending time there since it was forgotten for so long. I too loved Matera and can't wait to take my family there where they come to visit! Did you happen to have the time to hike across the gorge and explore the church caves? It is amazing!

Oh wow!! That's amazing and I love hearing stories from locals like that. Thank you for sharing. That's definitely something we miss since we don't speak Italian. We didn't have time to hike but saw a lot of people doing it.
