Bhopal disaster is known to every Indian, much like Chernobyl is known to all. It was a dark period in a socialist India of that era. Union Carbide was an American company that managed to escape the law (the US CEO, I think Warren Anderson, managed to escape from India and never returned to face trial). By the way, since Iman said ek raat mein itni laashen beechh gai, have you heard of Pompei? If not search and you will find a lot of material. How an entire city vanished from the face of earth one night... Its amazing.

I agree with the comment by Satyam Singh below that Bhopal has come a long way since the Bhopal tragedy. Today it has reestablished itself and is today a prosperous city with cleanliness and technology. There are also good educational institutions in Bhopal. The current generation of people in Bhopal live a decent life. But yes, one wishes the Bhopal tragedy had not happened. It is a sad incident no doubt. Based on the lessons learned from the Bhopal tragedy, many safety measures have been enforced for chemical plants which are strictly enforced. It has been speculated in media that the Indian executives of the plant involved did bring the situation to the attention of the parent company, but could not do much as there was no cooperation from the foreign parent company and they will told to keep quiet and do their jobs. There have been no such huge incidents involving chemical plants in India since the Bhopal tragedy. There was one incident on a much smaller scale in Vishakapatnam in 2020, but it was quickly controlled, probably thanks to the lessons learned from the Bhopal incident. There is no doubt that chemical and nuclear plants have the potential to cause severe damage if something goes wrong, but then a society can't live without these engineering marvels either.

That night My dad while rescuing many people in a school bus suffered a massive heart attack due to that toxic gas but fortunately he survived that and saved many people but later he suffered 2nd attack after few years due to post affects of methyl isocyanate gas yet survived again but couldn't survived the 3rd one after many years. Gas reduced his life but he saved many ppl in 1984

During 1984 Rajiv Gandhi was PM of India and main culprit of this whole episode was a foreigner Anderson, who happened to b Rajiv Gandhi's close friend. Rajiv Gandhi choosed his friend instead of Ppl of Bhopal. He gave him safe passage and helped him to move out of India safely.

I knew a family in Indore who were victims of Bhopal Gas Tragedy...though the whole family was infected but their children who were small kids at the time of tragedy were affected the most...their arms and legs were very thin and they felt breathless after every physical activity like running,jumping or while playin ny sport...i know they will hav to live their lives like tht only but its even sadder to know that the future generations will also b affected nd will have some disability.

I am from Bhopal, I wasn't born when this tragedy took place. Luckily my parents used to live far away from this location where the incident took place. I don't understand why gov gave permission to setup this plant within the city area? Congress helped the CEO Warren Anderson escape safely from India who was responsible for all the lapses. Most of the points are not covered in this video. The company kept reducing the maintenance/ security budget year by year to make maximum profit. The money paid by American Company Union Carbide as compensation was not sufficient when divided among the victims.

As per my information, the factory was situated well outside the city of Bhopal ..however, once the factory was built, people started living in the illegal housing colonies that were built around the factory premises...Government's responsibility can't be ruled out as it failed to educate people about the dangerous consequences in case of accident...and shifting the people away from the factory.. Nevertheless, it was the worst industrial disaster in the History of India .. I remember to have spent two sleepless nights after the disaster..as my Uncle was posted in Bhopal as a Bank officer..and started living there just a week before the disaster...we were unable to contact him because of poor telecommunications facility in those days..1984..Finally on third day we received a phone call saying he was far away from the site of accident..

I was living in Bhopal those days. I was in school and in my class 4-5 boys were who died in that tragedy. Some 15000-20000 people had died that day and within one month. Warren Anderson had made deal with then Prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. USA govt. had released Sarfaraz Khan son of Mohammad Yunus (Son of Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan freedom fighter) who was in jail for anti-national activities in USA. After his release Rajiv gandhi sattlled the 470 mil.Dollar case. per person just more than 24000 rupees was paid to victims which was too little too late. Some NGOs had made an appeal again in courts of USA for more compansation but UCIL did nothing. UCIL was sold out to another MNC called DAW chemicals who refused to take up this liability any further..... DAW chemicals are still making huge profits.

UCIL is MNC Company..with International Safety Standards..Highest paid Company to employees &with Lot's of Welfare measures.. Bhopal Gas tragedy is due to negligence of the workers who slept in Night shift without monitoring the Process..Union, Careless worker's.. And Goverment giving Land to the poor near the Factory which is against the Rules &Poor constructed houses near the Plant.... Don't Upload videos without full knowledge..You are misleading the viewers.. UCIL Plant was established outside Bhopal in 1969. Where it was open land without any human habitation..But, MP Govt gave land to the poor near UCIL.. Don't Blame Industry..Everybody is Accountable..

Warren anderson CEO of union carbide 51% share holder lives in new york and dies in 2014 after sepending his marvelous life of 95 years. Also you can thanks to than indian and MP govt to provide safe passage to Mr CEO who was considered as main culprit of Bhopal gas tregedy and he was considered as mass mudrer killed more 20K people in a night and affected more 0.5 millon lifes by indian SC and still thst incidet makes their life hell. Later compensation recieved of 650 crore which distributed among 0.6 millons as 1000 to 1500 rs per head sems cost of bhopalies life, its shame when some body from american corporate and some body from indian govt talks about human rights, life , environment and all bulshits.
