Early Tuesday morning, Lehigh County dispatched companies to 347 6th Street for a house fire at 2:21AM. Deputy 35 arrived on scene and reported a working fire with fire showing in the rear.
Whitehall Engine 4 arrived with a driver and two firefighters and stretched one 1.75" hand line to the rear. As the firefighters were stretching, the driver connected a water supply to a hydrant at the corner of 6th and Pennsylvania.
The firefighters darkened down the fire in the back of the house and moved their hand line to the front of the house to make an interior attack.
Whitehall Engine 2 arrived on the Delta side (South) and positioned on Pennsylvania Street and stretched a hand line to the rear to extinguish the rest of the fire.
Chief 35 (Nelson) held the box to the first alarm assignment and had the fire under control in roughly 30 minutes.
The fire was contained to the rear portion of the "addition" that consisted of the garage. The house sustained some smoke damage.
