In our younger days, my grand mother used to put some large quantity of cooked rice soaked in water overnight, add some curd, one or two green chillies and then grind the mix well with her hands. By this time all the kids (and the oldies too) assembled around her and you won't believe in minutes some 7 or 8 hands have devoured all of a few kilos of the mix. Today, the Americans call it fermented food and is a craze across 50 states.
