An absolute American gem! He is criminally underrated in the music listening public. Thankfully he is greatly respected by the music industry.

It's a goddamn shame John is not in the RRHOF. He's written some of the greatest songs ever and has definitely paid his dues. I have a bad feeling that Bouncy and Lay-Z will make before John.

I actually think he will eventually get in. We all need to get Jon Landau's email and inudate him with our demand! Ha.

When you think about how many notable artists have recorded a song of his, it would be a damn shame if he wasn't!

He also wrote and performed "Riding With the King" before Eric Clapton and B.B. King performed it. I love Hiatt! Has a southern delta-roots sound!

At 9:04 Crossings Muddy Waters. As I was Driving South to take my momma back to Florida from Virginia I had this song playing on the CD. After listening momma " asked did she ever come back for her baby daughter " ?

There ain't no coming back after you've crossed that particular river (for those who don't know, that song is about the suicide of his first wife). John talks candidly about his upbringing in a dysfunctional family, his addictions and personal tragedies, in an interview on the Trudge the Road KZbin channel. If you've ever heard his song "Seven Little Indians", it's completely autobiographical.

So many people I know say they've heard of John Hiatt but don't know any of his songs. I always respond 'you might be surprised how many you know, but you've only heard other people performing them.' JH is a songwriting master.

@@danielmorris3687 Like my old girlfriend when I told her I was going to see Gregg Allman. Her response? "You mean Cher's husband?" Same girlfriend thought "Have a little faith in me" was a Mandy Moore song. She's no longer my girlfriend.

Too right Lasse! I also truly adore John's work, but this band just sucks the life out of these otherwise fabulous songs. Just makes me wish for a reunion of what was arguably one of the most kick-ass "occasional" bands ever to form: Little Village.

@@nobull7406 I think ill give it the same conclusion. I saw him back in 2002 in Memphis.John set the pace and level of excitement and the band and crowd followed suit. We cant expect a 1987 John Hiatt to show up in 2013 or whatever year this was performed. Still, on it's own its a good performance.

I’ve seen him probably a dozen times. I saw him w this band (I think- right time frame ) a couple times and thought he was great but the band was flat. Then I saw him again on the 30th anniversary Slow Turning your w Sonny Landreth on guitar. Best show I’ve ever seen out of hundreds. I almost don’t want to see him again to burst that memory. JH is my all time favorite
