I would put a hidden brace to the wall just so that it doesn't get weak from using regularly . Nice job 👍

That table is beautiful. One suggestion? Maybe twisting the copper around a rigid piece of copper or pipe and incorporation that into the table mount(s) might have stiffened the legs? Other than that, it's 'perfick'! LoL

You need to have that table in a living space where the visitors can see it. Hidden in a corner doesn't do justice to it. Fantastic work and great video.

I have made and repaired a few circuit boards in the last 45 years. I would love to have that in green with silver leaf circuit patterns. I would try making one, but after having seen your beautiful creation, I could never do it justice. You have such exquisite attention to detail.
@datruommi3 жыл бұрын
Maybe just add a couple of brackets and screw it into the walls? The compression strength of the legs isn't an issue; just the lateral movement. In my mind that would make it way more stable. It looks freaking fantastic, btw :P

Lovely build, I like how it turned out. With the legs, to try making it a bit more sturdy how about something like a clear acrylic/resin tube through the middle of the twisted copper, leading to a flat foot? It should keep the surface steady and shouldn't be too visible, keeping the circuit board aesthetic.
@darrelljacobjr2120 Жыл бұрын
Or just make the legs from polished stainless rod, then spray copper-tack headgasket coating on for a copper wire look.

I sat through this out of respect to all those who make custom furniture, time was not wasted. That table is amazing. I used to work radio maintenance (component level repair, including circuit board repair) and that table brings back so many memories. I truly love that table. Thanks mate.
@robt21514 жыл бұрын
As regards the top - speechless, although it does seem a pity to hide it away in a back room. The twisted copper of the legs resembles the 16mm cable used for domestic supply installations and that usually has a thick insulation. Maybe encasing part of the legs in a mock insulation would help to stabilise them. Also, a replica busbar partway up the legs could help reduce longitudinal movement. But certainly a very impressive outcome.

Could you use coloured resin to replicate the pvc cover on house wiring - brown, blue. green/yellow, black or red?
@thisolesignguy27334 жыл бұрын
WOW that's badass! The legs were a nice touch, probably could've crisscrossed them and put a fake 'resister' in the middle to sturdy it up. but no complaints about the table, that turned out gorgeous

Absolutely superb! That would surely fetch top $$$$$. I wonder if solid copper wire would have better stiffness or perhaps inserting a solid steel bar in the twisted tubes in a concealed manner. Brass rods would be more ridged and golden in color. You should enter this in a show somewhere. JIM

The copper will harden on it's own eventually, but flexing the copper back and forth will do it much quicker.
@andypughtube3 жыл бұрын
Though it won't become any stiffer in the elastic region with work hardening (the Youngs Modulus won't change) Tinning the wires would stiffen it right up, but would need several pounds of solder.

Wonderful, except for the legs. Legs were an interesting idea in theory but didn't work in practice. Maybe wind the wire around polished spiral turned walnut legs, or whatever. Gold leaf is burnished with a polished agate burnisher after application to the size. Minimize the brushing, which leaves scratches, just like abrasive sanding of wood.
