Does falsetto cause vocal wobble? Is it dangerous? And how can you sing through out your entire vocal-range in your chest voice? (with connected tone)
@NewYorkVocalCoaching4 жыл бұрын
Falsetto is not dangerous! And you can't sing through your whole vocal range in Chest, you need to transition to the different registers. :) We have a whole series on Vocal Registers! And this new Mix Voice episode will help you to keep that chesty or "connected" sound as you go through part of your range! :) -NYVC
@freshresttestletsperfect41134 жыл бұрын
@@NewYorkVocalCoaching okay, thank you. There is just this advocate for speech level singing 'Power to sing' Who says it does and some others do aswell but I am glad that it was just a rumor
@nemanjasavic22524 жыл бұрын
It isnt dangerius, but if you use it excessively vocal folds will tend to stay disconnected up in higher register(and it can be harder to find mix). When finding mix you want to learn head voice to get able to get mix voice. Though if you use falsetto over the course of multiple years, some say you may develop wobble. You should not avoid using it, its good for vocal health, just try to learn other coordinations for higher registers
@nemanjasavic22524 жыл бұрын
When in head voice you are also connected and when you learn to sing in it, it may sound and feel like falsetto. As you practice it and go from chest to head you will see that there is no break anymore like in falsetto. Also your vocal quality will change (you will sound a bit different), your voice will get richer bcs more resonance. After learning hv you can try learning mix too and adding chestiness to it. It will sound like chest voice, but it will be higher

Can mix voice be used for classical singing? I’m a natural baritone but I don’t sing pop music. I’d like to extend my range so I can handle tenor arias and high baritone arias but after decades of trying, I still haven’t found my mix enough to sing with power, resonance and adequate breath control. In full voice, I top out at a G4 and that’s not always a guarantee. In “mix” I can get to the hallowed “C5” but it doesn’t sound right. In fact, once I go into mix, I lose my ability to sing as loudly or with as much control as I can in full voice on lower notes. I would really, finally, like to get this mix down so I can sing what I want not just what my naturally limited chest voice will allow me to.
@NewYorkVocalCoaching3 жыл бұрын
Hi James! If you're using Mix voice in Classical, then the Low Larynx position common to the Classical style will certainly accommodate a lot of volume! If you're Mixing with a Low Larynx though, it can be a bit more difficult to maintain nuanced Compression due to the Decompression tendencies that a Low Larynx has. Compression consonants can help you to train maintaining the Compression (G, B, D). That being said, notes up that high do not need to be terribly loud. And even for the opera tenors that do them, it's not so much about volume as it is about resonance. If you'd like to talk to Justin about this, we have a live chat coming up on 9/26! There will be more information in our Community Tab closer to the date. We hope this helps! -NYVC

For the yodel exercise should the first note be chest voice so it gets a distinct flip to head?

Thank you so much for a great video!! Is there any significance to the way you formed the combinations of sound/interval/concept? For instance, why is vocal fold strength exercised using "mehm" on the 1-3-5-3-1 interval? Would it be just as effective to do the vocal fold strength exercise using "ay" on the 1-6-1 interval?

Hi Victor! Justin chooses every exercise very specifically. But you could certainly try the exercise in different ways and adjust the components! -NYVC

Hi Justin! My cousin is a sound engineer and he's asking about microphone technique for singers. Apparently, it matters a great deal to the people responsible for the right sound mix during a concert or performance, and the singers end up needing additional coaching on mic technique! Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

YES!! Finally❣️ I love you videos Justin!! I have a question about the AY (soft, medium, loud) exercise. Is there a reason why you chose to do it on a major 6th interval? Thank youuu for your amazing videos and tips ❤️

He chose it because it allows for a good range! Not too small of a range to work but not too much where it becomes extra difficult for folks. :) -NYVC
