I thought this was insightful and articulate. Thank you. Just shocking how brazen the CEO is about continued corruption in favour of serving those who should be compensated. Utter lack of empathy. How do the lawyers hold the CEO accountable and have him removed?

Lawyer fees should only be linked the work they have done and not a percentage of the claim. Lawyers are gangsters at this rate...

I think your comments lack merits and unsubstantiated. The lady in the studio articulated very well the background that led to claimants appointing lawyers. It's not the other way round. It is the claimant who approaches a lawyer and asks for assistance. Sometimes, the claimant comes to the lawyer when the claimant has tried lodging a claim by himself and has been unsuccessful and approaches a lawyer. Sometimes, the claimant comes to a lawyer after his claim has expired in terms of the South African law. Also, the claim to the RAF is regulated by the Road Accident Fund Act. Law is too complex to be understood by ordinary people. Not even the President of the Republic of South Africa is able to sign documents that have legal implications without a lawyer. It unfortunate that you appear not to have knowledge of how lawyers work, their roles, and their reach in society. If the accident involves a minor child, that is a complex matter because it should be resolved urgently. Given the system of the RAF, it's takes too long to have a claim resolved. Hence, lawyers' role ensures, amongst others, that the claimant is not frustrated by delays caused by the RAF. Further, if the accident has caused serious injuries, it requires many experts, and lawyers' role in the process is humageous. I've assisted a myriad of people who have tried to lodge a claim with RAF by themselves and have become unsuccessfully and others have been rejected. By the time a lawyer is approached, he has to consider instituting a legal action against the RAF to the High Court or file an appeal to the appeal committee of the RAF.

So does this mean the process will also exclude the courts. Meaning RAF will be the only party determining the validity of claims.
