I remember a "drought" a few years ago when the dam levels failed to rise, a lady in Cabinet said apartheid was to blame -- they made the dams too big, that's why they didn't fill up. Seems now that they actually built the dams too small.

Ziniko's answer to whether the residents were actually warned in time is vague to say the least. Were the residents warned, yes or no. Please get someone to give a straight and truthful answer to the question. Couldn't the water have been released at a slower rate? Did the authorities have to wait till almost the very last minute before opening the flood gates?

We now know how many gate's in total the dam,has. But the question on what determine the total gate's to be opened hasn't been answered yet.Please educate us,it's crucial.

Opening more sluices will definitely cause more damage than has already been experienced. Yet, the wall is possibly weakened due to the continuing pressure build up on it, due to the further rains up stream.

Of course they will cover themself . First of all you monitor the inflow but 2nd ly do not open the sludge gates at the same time . 3dly open the gates ahead and do not make it a emergency decision . You getting paid a hell of a sallary but not doing your job . Those bridges was build before 1994 so it wil last life times

The problem with the ANC led government is cader deployment. Appointing people who have no skills and knowledge are appointed in key strategic positions of government. Thus, they stifle creativity and innovation in the running of the country.

It is financially not viable to generate electricity from this dam as it doesn't have a big enough drop. This is a water storage reservoir, not a power generation dam.

It wasnt done.Water and sanitation didnt check the measures up stream.Or as everything in Sa they think they now everything they should have emptied Barrage and then the Vaal should have been opened.Bee again
