The farmers were armed because Julius was/is encouraging his “army” to go do harm, posting pictures of guns, telling them to kill the boer! Dont make the weapon aspect one sided, the EFF had weapons too. The difference was the farmers did not wave their weapons around in the air like the EFF did, they did NOT throw rocks, they did not threaten any lives.
