How do you set the controller software like Mach3? It has no setting for roller pinion.

The RPS system is simple looking but there is a great deal of IP that goes into it that isn't obvious. There are patents on it. Beyond the theory the tooling to make it anywhere near the level Nexen makes it is rare and expensive. The cost to make it at a lesser level isn't that much less and sacrifices performance making it pointless compared to other drive options. If it was easy wouldn't it have been done long before now?

The rack may be 0 backlash but your also going to need an extremely stiff coupling and zero backlash gearhead. You're also having to drag around the weight of the motor now as well. On top of that, wear and tear on all the cables makes this not much of an option for my applications.

I work for Nexen. The pinion can remain stationary and the rack move past it. Positional accuracy will depend on the other drive components. There are zero backlash reducers or you can direct drive the pinion with the servo motor in some applications if maximum positional accuracy is required.
