The point of a full size suv...is to have full sized space. Toyotas focus on the Tundra has left them rushing to find an answer of where to store the batteries in the Sequoia. It was an afterthought and they took the main selling point of a full sized suv and got rid of it by eating up the trunk space. They couldnt even cover it up well. Trying to sell it off as a plus with a piece of cardboard with some cheap carpet and calling it a shelf system. Give me a break. This will not sell. It will only sell with yes men toyota fanboys. Look at the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. Much better tech...much better room...much better off road chops...much better interior quality. Toyota needed to hit it out the park and design for the future seeing how they dont like to redesign as often as other brands...but all they did was bare minimum. Anyone with half a brain would be looking elsewhere after this reveal...or maybe holding out hope that Toyota wont fuck up the 4Runner.

Cargo space: the third-row seat when folded down, it's so high that if you're a pet owner, and have big dog(s)... the pups won't fit in the cargo space. Also, the sliding trunk window would be a plus for the pups too. I think it would be a better option if they had removable third row seats (for cargo space), but then they wouldn't be power folded seats.

The Sequoia was an afterthought. You can tell by the rushed and horrible design of the back. All Toyota cared about was the Tundra and they gave little to no thought on how the new design would impact the Sequoia. Ther outward design is decent and of course the Powertrain is great....but that's where the buck stops. The tech is lackluster even for what's out now...nevermind what will be out in the next 5 to 10 plus years till we see another redesign. The off-road worthiness is ok at best and nothing to write home about. Even the Ford Explorer or the New Expedition have better off road chops with their Timberline model. Nevermind something like the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The quality of the interior is ok at best...just duplicating what's in the Tundra, which doesn't compare to something like the aforementioned Grand Cherokee or something like the Telluride/Palisade. Then you got the elephant in the room....the rear interior space which obviously was a rushed afterthought. You can't tell me Toyota thought this was a great idea...and anyone trying to say it is...is just being fanboy yes men. The basic idea of having a full size suv is to have full sized room. The Sequoia does away with that with this horrid monstrosity of a shelving system to try to gloss over the fact they didn't take the time or effort to design an actual answer to the problem of where to store the batteries. People may fanboy now but mark my words....the Sequoia sales will be lackluster in comparison to the better options out there at this price range. Toyota can't just live off the Toyota namesake forever. Not with companies like...Kia/Hyundai...Jeep...Ford...etc all making big strides in design while toyota is trying to get away with bare minimum that won't even cut it in todays market. Nevermind tomorrows. Put it this way...after the reveal.... I sold my Toyota stock.
