@@RichKlass Irrelevant observation, that was a professional racing tuned engine with an entire team behind it, not something the public ever experienced. The "spirit of the Supra" is the publics experience/perception of the car. Which is a coupe with a reliable, overbuilt, and highly tunable i6. Only offering a 4 cylinder will never make sense, might as well be a GR 86 successor at that point.

@@Mr.Mysteryits not irrelevant at all. TOMs lead Toyota to believe they had a chance at dethroning the RB26, which they did, with a Toyota 4 cylinder. Perhaps the new supra could be a throw-back to ultra-high performance. And it makes sense it terms of efficiency. Your argument lacks substance.

I think people forget that you buy Japanese when you can’t quite swing the German equivalent. I bought a used Supra in the early 2000s because I couldn’t afford a M3. BMW did Toyota a favor. People worried about the badge aren’t tasting the cake. Truth is it is the most special spots car for sale under 100k and really a poor man’s 911 which was always what the Supra was intended to be.
@lostalx27 күн бұрын
Idk why are people celebrating this, the Supra redesign looks worse than the current one and the BMW B58 based one has a ton of ECU tuning options plus it's a solid engine. I do not drive one but that Inline 6 from BMW is much better. Tacking a Hybrid joke is a fail on all levels for a sports car. 4 Cyl for a Coupe sports that will cost to the north of 60K+ ? It's a very bad option. I will take current gen Z4 / Supra made in Austria with ZF gearbox any day over this new joke. As for new RC/LC replacement, it will be a total junkbox. Existing RC F is a last F car with that masterpiece 2UR-GSE NA V8 engine, LC 500 is ultra luxury Lexus brand image GT car. Replacing with a 4 cyl popper is awful. That MR2 looks more like the new RC render. Then the LFR will be probably a halo special model competing with Porsche 911 GT3, Benz SL63 AMG and BMW M4 CSL.

That redesign looks like a very early concept rendering...take all this with a grain of salt.

It’s not a 4 cylinder. That’s from the Celtica. This will have a 6 cylinder. People like Toyotas engines much better Vince you can rev much higher dude to the stroke being smaller. The 2jz is a square engine which can rev to 9k easily. The b58 is an undersquare engine. The best way to make horsepower is to rev high not have high torque.
@hto-d9j27 күн бұрын
Completely agree with you. The current 4 cylinder Supra despite it being cheaper than the 6 yclinder did not sell, and is why it is now discontinued. What makes toyota think this 4 cylinder Supra with a hybrid powertrain will succeed, especially if it costs 60k or more. The next gen LC/RC looks to be a disaster as well. The RCF and is500 will be the last Lexus cars worth buying if you are a car enthusiast. The next toyota celica with it using the next gen 2.0 liter t urbo engine with all wheel drive, nonhybrid do look like it has potential, but would most likely be a very heavy car, given all the talk of it being more on the luxury side, and large physical size of the car, will make it not really a drivers car either. The MR2, if it arrives to the US will likely cost 70k or more, but if toyota can get the driving dynamics right, it may have potential. The next gen gr86 will no longer have the great lightweight and pure sports car driving attributes of either the 1st or 2nd gen 86, given it will be heavy and expensive. So, the toyota cars I would get are alllhere now already, with the Lexus is500, rcf, and Toyota GR86.

Also has oil starvation issues and in some cases just straight up blows up and burns to the ground. You know which car doesn’t have oil issues (besides 2021s) ….right. The one that is collaborated with bmw. People need to get over it already the current gr supra especially in manual is number one. @@DarkdsidedGamer You are lucky to have bought a brand new A80 in the 1990s and drive it factory new! I was born in 1994 so missed my chance lol. My brother use to keep 2. The first he had for a decade or more, which kept completely OEM. The second was for modifying, tuning and shows etc. He recently sold the OEM model to a buyer in Dubai for a very large sum. He always said he would eventually sell it for a "small fortune" and he did lol. I have a 14 year old FJ Cruiser that Toyota mechanic says has the lowest mileage they see on one. I just need Vin Diesel to use an FJ Cruiser in the next Fast & Furious, so I can eventually sell it for a small USD 6 figure fortune lol.

@@lunamaria1048 Wow what a story! It's so fascinating to hear your family's background! I will be fun to get together maybe with your brother too... and talk about life growing in Japan and Canada. How do you like your Overtrail by the way? Still liking it? I decided to postpone my GX Overtrail purchase because I'm actually quite happy with the Land Cruiser...I still want a comparison with your GX though!
