Have you heard the latest Linn LP12 Klimax rig ? with the URIKA 2 and Exakt link? And as a Polymer technologist I can tell you that DELRIN is nothing like the material that LP records are made of, which I think is a blend of PVC and PVA (which is what white wood glue is). DELRIN is POLyacetal or Polyformaldehyde and is similar to Nylon in its properties and is hence used for things like small drive cogs and gears.

i have around 50 turntables since late 60´s till today ,i bought recentelly the Burmester system that cost me with instalation in my home ,almost 140.000€ only having two sources ,turntable , and cd player, you also have there a very nice set up,i´m not going to take it with me when i die, so why not make some last years buyings to feel happier, music makes me remenber when i was in my 20´s and going canping to beaches that only young people would go to because of the dificult access, and the nearest village was tiny and had only a source of income, fishing so i do remenber eating lot´s of fish when most of my friends were alive and good wine made in the region, and falls of sweet water falling to the beaches ,if it wasn´t for the music i wouldn´t recall all of those moments and company i had at the time

Might want to mention that the tonearm is not made by Pure Fidelity, it's from Origin Live and several models are offered in combination with the PF tables. As you mentioned the quality of the tonearm has a significant effect on the overall performance of turntable playback.

one thing you younger guys (i'm almost 80 ) didn't get to experience was the beginning of rock , especially the live performances . The equipment was so noisy with distortion and feed back on mics that it became an expected part of the performance . in the early days of R&R it was ALL about the raw energy and excitement ,so the distortion then and now is expected and wanted . hearing a song from that era without all the noise seems like an emotional loss.

Hi Jay and thanks for another very in-depth reveal. You mentioned you didn't;t mind the "crackles and pops". I couldn't stand it. The main reason I got out of vinyl many years ago was for that very reason. I spent a fortune over the years buying and re-buying better pressings and finally gave up. I'm not debating the difference between vinyl and digital, but just wanted to say that I could never again invest in thousands of dollars worth of analogue gear to put up with annoying defects in the media.

Of course, it's way above any price points I could participate in, but I can appreciate the info especially the Korian Tube conversation you spoke about. This level of HiFi is spectacular and aspiring too say the least. It's always This level that I actually think many viewers wish to be working on at some point in their lives. I never would have known anything about the gear you speak about, and am very grateful you are exposing us to a huge variety of options regardless of cost because there is a huge amount between low cost and these options but at least we can go and look around in our price range at brands and gear you mention. Thank you so much for all you offer to us. You are appreciated.

1) Nothing wrong with coloration of sound, provided you like the end result. 2) Why did you not mention the Origin Live tonearm? The tonearm is really where it all starts. You went through everything on the table by name but not the tonearm, why? Do you have something against the Brits at Origin Live? Also, you have a company in Ontario that can modify an SME V into the best tonearm on the planet for around $1,500 Canadian. That is worth looking into.

You do realise when you’re talking about the turntable without a counter, exception of a cheap crappy, turntable, you didn’t realise that most of the sound that you are talking about, comes from the cartridge, the quality the wiring inside the turntable, the quality of the wiring that you use between the turntable and the preamp and the preamp, and then the amp. The actual turntable itself has got two jobs spin the record at the correct speed and be silent and stable whilst doing so the exotic material is used in the turntable have got 0 to do with the sound zero. I really hate it when people spout on on KZbin videos and don’t make the point clear or miss Lee, people that turntable you have in his video take the cartridge off and put on a entry level Auto technic Reval worse something even cheaper see whether turntable sounds the same then it won’t change that cartridge out for another medium or high-and cartridge it won’t sound the same either again that has nothing to do with the turntable at all. Turntable two jobs spin, the record correct speed without any speed variations and do it silently without incorporating any noise or Home into the sound signature, which to be honest most medium entry-level turntables don’t do that these days either, and I don’t mean them cheap crappy ones they’re terrible, could pay about £250 in the UK on a brand-new turntable that will come with an adequately brilliant cartridge and it will spin the record perfectly when you want the sound upgrade to a better sound you don’t change the entire turntable. You update the cartridge to a better cartridge
@Jayiyagi10 ай бұрын
While cartridge is important. Cartridge is just one part of it. What constitutes as a better cartridge? The price? The material? There are warm high end carts like koetsu and more analytical ones like from clearaudio or benz. How about the mass loaded ones vs lighter turntables? Mats? Does those things not change the sound? It all matters at the end. Synergy matters between all these moving parts and it is not correct in my opinion to say that a turntable’s only purpose is to spin accurately and that it all comes down to the cart. I’ve not heard a cart that sounds exactly the same on two different turntables
@davelistenstohifi10 ай бұрын
Turntable and arm actually make a very big difference, the vibrations sensed by the cartridge are directly affected by how well the arm holds the cartridge in relation to the lp, and the vibrations are so microscopic (molecular level) that the turntable base, bearing and motor make quite an audible difference. Not trying to convince you, it's quite easy, take the same cartridge and set it up on 2 different turntables and hear for yourself.
@webersteve154710 ай бұрын
You would be surprised how much rumble and distortion a turntable can induce. Yes the cartridge make the sound, but it needs a good base to be quite
@michaelgallay10 ай бұрын
there a video of michael Fremer where you can hear two different turntable. Everything else is identical (cartridge, record, preamp, cable…) you can clearly hear the difference
