Ordered and definitely making it! I made the first caddy and keep it in my shop. However, once my wife discovered how well Starbond glue works and the caddy finds it way into the house all to often. I ordered the smaller set and I’ll make this really cool caddy for her so she keeps her hands off my set. Lol! Thanks so much for the tips. Can’t get enough of absorbing so many professional woodworking tips from a real craftsman like yourself!

Glad to hear it Danny... I think you'll find it a challenging and rewarding project. I advise you to make two while you're at it though. It could help prevent marital discord because the caddy is a joy to hold and use IMHO and wouldn't want you resenting the missus if she denies you access! Let me know what you think of the smaller set and, most important, the pump sprayer and Pinocchio nozzle. I've been slow to adopt the pump spray over aerosol but the new tip design has positively affected my opinion and preference and I'm curious what others think... Best, Matt

@@NextLevelCarpentry I too want to thank you for your tireless efforts in giving others your very, very cleverly developed tips and tricks! I especially loved your tips on making very, very long shims. Just used that in shimming in a bathtub so my kerdi board would end up inside the top flange, not on top. I will, however, take exception to this metric dig. You're comparing apples to oranges here - translating the measurements of a CA glue container - made to imperial specs - to metric specs. Of course they aren't going to match up. Had the German doppelgänger of you made a similar caddy, it would have taken the measurements of the metric created container, and dared us Imperialists to figure out the distance for 708661/10000000". It's absurd of course.

@@Lilliputian63 a degree of absurdity is at the core of any good joke, isn't it? Hey Matt.... As nice as that and other projects are.. I always appreciate the little things you share to make all jobs maybe just a bit easier. This time it was the sand paper on the piece of pvc.. Well, of course I've seen sandpaper wrapped on dowels or conduit, but not the slit spread with a Wedge. So obviously a great idea but I've never seen it before. So simple and can be used with any size conduit to accommodate any radius. As a tradesman, any tricks are always appreciated. I truly believe that one can and should learn something new everyday. Well done Matt, nice Caddy build. That special offer looks like a good deal, I will order some. You're welcome Randy. BTW while I do use a good bit of CA on jobs and in the shop, some bottles do sit around for many months before I use them up. I've never had them 'glom up' from lack of use the way Gorilla Glue and FastCap stuff does and also never refrigerated them. Leaving bottles in the hot shop or inadvertently in the sun for hours on jobsites should punish me with spoiled product for neglectfulness but I've not seen that happen with Starbond. It's one more thing that impresses me with the product. Not that I advise such responsibility for others though and a little bit of care is certainly good advise! Best, Matt

If you need a hole like that a hair wider? You best do it your way, because often i used a big machine to saw a hair of wood off of a side, just to see after that that it was too much and it wont be correct anymore. So take 10 minutes of sanding or filing so you get the snug fit and be happy afterwards in place of frustrated ;)

I picked out snacks to watch this one. When you were at drill press it made your bandsaw height behind it look extremely low. Didn’t look low when using it but looked like you’re sitting at it. I ditched the spread metal stand to raise my 14 inch bandsaw up a full foot higher. I’m tall I guess but I can’t even see or hold anything that low. Wonder what other sorts of caddies people come up with using same ideas. I could see myself making a very handsome tape dispenser.
@NextLevelCarpentry
@NextLevelCarpentry 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting! I have the drillpress table raised rather high to shorten the quill stroke needed to repeatedly drill holes in relatively thin material which makes the bandsaw look extra low. I usually sit on a stool at the bandsaw when cutting smallish parts. The table height is good for most larger/longer stuff like re-sawing so I wouldn't want it higher unless I never did bigger stuff. Good on you for ditching a dysfunctional stand... that's a bit of beneficial outside the box thinking that makes your workflow better and safer. I do hope viewers extrapolate the template/router method shown for making this caddy to other useful stuff since I don't imagine many really need/want a CA specific caddy like this one. Best, Matt
