My wife doesn't know what's happened to me, she used to get home and I'd be watching KZbin for the latest gadgets or video games. Now she gets in and the majority of the time you're on the TV 🤣. I am a first time grower in the UK and have followed all of your advice on various vegetables. I've done everything from seed and almost a 100% success rate. Now its just keeping them alive 😁 Look forward to more of your videos

Great list of tips. Another tip for adding Calcium to the soil which I do every year. I keep my eggshells and let them dry out and then crush them up in a container. When I need to start potting I blend the crushed eggshells up using a blender with the coffee bean/nut blade which results in a fairly fine powder. Then you can use the powder as an additive to your soil. Instead of spending money you're now using a product you would normally just throw out. I've been doing this for 3 years now and haven't seen blossom end rot since. ;oP

I admit I am having a hard time accepting I will have to cut the tops off of plants for 3-4x more fruit but will try it this year! Not sure what I was doing differently but this video gave me some good insight on what I can try.

Thank you for the peroxide tip. My paper towels sometimes get spots of mildew. That should definitely help. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it when I use it for algae in hydroponics. So simple, yet so genius. I usually sprout mine by putting them on the windowsill. Between the sun and the heat register nearby, they sprout pretty quickly. No heat mat required. I don’t like to use a heat mat when I’m gone or asleep. I’m scared it’ll catch fire. PS - I love your videos. Very informative and great delivery.

top them, then dont forget to remove the "suckers" on the lower 4-6 leaves, leaving only 4, i repeat 4 on the upper most portion of the stem...this will keep your peppers out of the dirt as they mature and send 4 massive stalks out at relatively the same height producing way more than a single stem could dream of! as u can tell i lovee my peppers... golden cayenne and hot anaheims for me this year, god bless.

I planted my pepper plants WAY too close this year but they’re going so well. I can tell the spacing prevents some from growing to maximum capacity but the amount of pepper plants helps offset that. Since I have no frost, I’m going to make sure the next time I plant them I do it right. Hopefully then I’d be able to keep them there for many years to come.

Several things: First, you can get most every superhot pepper to germinate in 4-10 days by putting in trays with moist starter mix, then put trays on heat mat at 80 degrees setting, covered with dome. Much easier then paper towel which if not monitored allows roots to grow into towel, damaging roots. Second, when pinching tops, you will set back plants 2-4 weeks. This is great, and I do it too, but you need to add that into time for starting plants indoors. Third, there are organic nutrients that build the stem wall to allow strong stems as plants get big so that cages and sticks aren’t necessary, unless you expect a 4-5 foot plant with hundreds of peppers.

As a rule of thumb, the hotter the pepper is, the longer it takes to sprout and it also grows slower. Tabasco is also superslow and a bit tricky imo despite not being that hot.

Iam new at growing peppers. My habaneros even with it being fulling grown it's only produced 5 so far. I do fertilize it but not every time I water. I fertilize every other water. Is there anything iam doing wrong or is that the way habaneros grow? I do live in an apartment I don't have a balcony or patio or back yard. But my two living room windows get enough sun that I sometimes have to go to my bedroom due to how hot my living room gets. Thank you for that rule of thumb. I love that my chickens like to eat the bugs! I wear garden gloves, pick the bugs off my plants and they make a great treat for the chickens! Thanks for the hint on the peppers! I would like to know more about using shade cloth (beetles killed my Pines that were the garden's shade).

It is, this morning I was out tending to my garden and I let my chickens in to do just that, I keep a very close eye on them just to make sure they don't nibble on the actual plants lol, I give them about half hour and then escort them back out of the enclosed area of my garden.

I've gone to places where they sell damaged canned goods or out of date foods. Look around for powdered milk that is out of date (huge discount) .. and sprinkle the powdered milk on the ground under tomato and pepper plants to help with the calcium needs. Great video BTW! Love that idea of taking the top of the plant off and redirecting the energy!

yonis majano peppers can be perennial depending on where you live, if you live in a hot tropical climate, they’re perennial, however if you live in most places in America or Canada, they are annuals. People bypass this however by keeping them outdoors in the summer and then bring them indoors in pots during the winter under grow lights.

yonis majano there aren’t many vegetable perennials but one of them are asparagus. Most fruit however are perennial such as strawberries blueberries and almost any other fruit!

I love bell peppers and have been growing them for years. However, I was always disappointed in the number of peppers per plant. One week ago, I pinched the tops off and they are already leafing out at the "armpits!" I am so excited to see if this works. Thank you!

We have a jalapeno from last year and it's flowering like crazy, and we have the potential for freeze for 6 months! As an experiment we should all try to grow peppercorns, yes, black pepper vines, it will be fun!

This year as an experiment I planted some seeds (from peppers I harvested in my garden) onto a corner in my yard and in my garden bed. Surprisingly the ones in my yard seem to have all sprouted opposed to none in the garden bed (they could always take longer but it’s been like 12 days). Anyways it’ll be interesting to see how the pepper plants grow opposed to the garden beds. Edit: they’ve come out in the garden bed but germination for some reason is slower, probably because the soil is less compact.

Michael H. I'm wondering about this myself. I took seeds out of a pepper I ate, and planted them, in a cup, inside the house right now. I live in Massachusetts. I wonder if they will grow. They should, right ? It's been only a few days, so I'll know in about 2 weeks ?

Michael Best they should. I ordered carry out and took the appetizer tomato and squeezed it’s contents into my raised garden bed. I didn’t think anything would happen but to my surprise a bunch of seedlings came out. I live in Florida so it’s much hotter though. I think you should have success with peppers because I personally haven’t had much luck with tomatoes.

This video is such a great wealth of information and guidance, I so appreciate this as I’m a novice gardener and just started growing bell peppers (we call capsicums here) - your previous video on seed starting via “paper towel germination” was really good and really confirmed what I did was the right thing- I started my seeds that way (after watching some other video and was before I discovered your channel) after the seeds failed to germinate for almost 2 months, I almost gave up and thought there was something wrong with my seeds or me!!! 🙊😜 I am encouraged to know that peppers are perennials (yayyy!!). I have some questions if I may: Can you advise if you think I can overwinter my peppers outdoors? It would be awesome if I could as I don’t have any space indoors to overwinter them. I live in Australia and zone 10b-11a and the lowest temp is 1-2degC and we don’t get frost here. Secondly, I only just watched your video and didn’t do the ‘rock phosphate fertilisation’ method and my plants are already transplanted into troughs and pots so that’s too late, I only have the general Seasol or seaweed, and Osmocote all purpose pellet fertiliser. Should I go out and get the Neptune fertiliser? I did notice it’s taking a while to fruit. It’s summer here. Appreciate the advice, thanks! 🙏

I would use organic fertilizer. It doesn't have to be NH if you guys don't have that there. And absolutely you can overwinter them. In your climate you could probably leave them in place.
