Here in Central Florida (zone 10a) I am still harvesting fall's tomatoes, green beans and snow peas! By mid Feb it will be back in the 70's and 80's here. My no garden time is full summer - too hot for most things to grow. Love the calculator to help know when to plant as I have a bad habit of sowing too late.

My last frost date is mid-late June and first frost date around 6-8 September and I rarely have night temps above 50 F. I'm up in Truckee, CA by Lake Tahoe. It's very difficult to grow any of the warm season vegetables here, even though we do have hot days in July & part of August, but our growing season is so short. It's a challenge to get things like tomatoes and peppers to ripen before the frost takes them.

Thank you for that new calculator. I'm in Troy, New York, formerly zone 5B, now I think they are calling it zone 6 but in any case it looks like my last frost date is May 8th. Your calculator even gives me a good estimate of when I can start certain things indoors in preparation for outdoor planting. Awesome.

Sorry to hear of the loss in your family. Want to thank you for the gardening planner. Late this year with seed starting. Husband has had serious health issues from a fall causing a replaced knee to make walking difficult. We see orthopedic surgeon in a few days. We’re praying that he’ll repair the knee. Anyway my Plan is to seed start this weekend. Fingers crossed.

I from Estonia. Here is climate way different. Like yes we need to do same but we need to put things in green house and in may we need even make green house warm because short summer and chilly spring nights. Also with trees we need to cover them up in spring so morning sun does not wake up some trees like peach because at night temperatures drop a lot and different between day and night is so big.

One thing you left out for beginners, you have to have a fan or something to move your seedlings so they get stronger otherwise they will be very spindly and just fall over dead, so the new plants have to be moved either by a fan or by youb rushing the leaves a few times a day, very very important

Question to follow up on the wintering/bringing indoors of pepper plants, when the time to put back outdoors comes(z.6-Apr25-lastfrost), is there pruning or care needed besides replanting/fertilizing? (These here have grown quite stringy/skinny with poorly matured/stunted buds/peppers while indoors. The stringy/skinny growth is the purpose of the pruning care question.)

Just harvesting 1 outer leaf from each adult plant each day - and you can have a full house salad for everybody in the house. Minimal time gathering, versus end of season harvesting and wasting product (and tossing to the lambs and cow for eating). And by the way, also doing the same double-triple harvesting of all of the various leaves - provides a maximum nutrition for the lambs and cow (especially in pregnancy) than just bland alfalfa. Diversity is happiness. Lets see how long you would eat only corn flakes cereal and milk for endless days - until your body would rebel for diversity.

The Farmers almanac says my last frost date is March 31st, but it's Never been that early in years past. It's Always been around the middle of April. The National Gardening Association tells me my last frost date is April 14th. I'm not quite understanding how these two groups can be that different in their answers but I will err on the side of caution and go with April 14th this year.

I look forward to your videos, and are a great help, I live in SE Wyoming and I love growing tomatoes, the shorter season or northern tomato variety is usually a smaller tomato that needs less time to develop, I can't speak for all varieties of northern climate tomato, but I have found a way around this, I start my tomatos insied in mid february, in dixie cups, after six weeks I transplant them to larger containers, and the date for putting outdoors for me is June 1, I've been able to grow big boys and beef steaks this way, because the frost can hit here in mid september, thank you so much, give me any advice if you see something that can help with my process.

I'm in SCA as well, but can't grow anything inside my small home, don't have a greenhouse, and have a small yard. I have never had luck growing radishes, carrots or tomatoes... the crops that everyone says are the easiest to grow. 😒 I plant most everything that can be planted in containers in containers first, on my porch, but haven't had luck with those plants at all! ... Can it be the seeds? 🤔🤷‍♀️ I get plenty of germination, but no veggies!
