Less than you may think. Ran a VTL for years. What you see here is simple machining on one of the easiest metals to work with cast iron. This part was probably made complete in under 24 hours. The casting to is a simple one to product also.

Should be fun getting all those belts tensioned properly, even with a matched set any slight deviation from the specs on the grooves will have wildly differing belt seating and subsequent tension variations from groove to groove.... 😲

Use bonded belts (I'm sure it's as special order as the pulley) and you're good to go. Just make sure the pulleys are square to each other, lol.

@@TheDiosdebaca To a degree I agree with you, but if a couple of those machined grooves are a fraction wider than others, they wont be sharing the load equally is what I'm saying...a multi-veed bonded belt wont really solve that issue as much as mask its existence... as for your point of the pullies being parallel to each other when using bonded belts... well, HELL YEAH !! 🙄😂 😎👍☘️🍺

@@PistoKTM The problem with any sort of fluid is that it turns cast iron dust into an abrasive slurry or paste which quickly rounds off the sharp corner of the cutting tool. Which is why it's always machined dry in shops which do a lot of cast iron work.
