The cameras are amazing alright and one thing that wasn't mentioned in this comparison is that the Playbook captures stereo audio and it's incredibly clear and really compliments the HD video. It also saves its files as MP4 rather than 3GP on the Nexus.

I have iPad and Nexus 7. I use Nexus 7 most of the time. It is just easier to carry and very flexible software. It has NFC GPS Bluetooth and those do come in very handy when I am out of the cave. I am able to receive texts on my Nexus 7 and reply them from the device so even when I have left my phone or when my phone battery is dead, the Nexus does the job. Reading Flipboard on Nexus 7 is magical. Gaming on Nexus 7 is really comfortable, fluid and just relaxing.

Great job comparing the two devices. I can't wait for BB10, which I read is coming to the Playbook. For now I'll stick with the Playbook as it performs quite well compared to my other tablets.

I have both and in today's date you can't use playbook in surfing net as it hangs a lot but Nexus 7 work great today also. The main thing which I loved about the playbook is their speakers. they are amazing.

I love my PlayBook too, but I am not going to compare it to the new stuff. I know it can be compared to some degree, but without application support it was tough showing off its amazing OS just to be stumped by "but does it have netflix or skype?" It could do so much more than that, but people could care less without these apps. Makes sense, right? Personally, I'll wait for BB10 before considering an upgrade to something else.

Good Review. I wonder if the playbook would be considered a better option now that it has had a huge price dump you can get it at staples for $109 or future shop for $129. My only really concern is apps without software any device is useless.

My first tablet was Android and I got fed up with Flash not working properly. Against the current trend I decided to give the Playbook a try and it's a dream. Flash is stable and there. The graphics are lovely. The item has a quality feel to it and now that it's crashed in price it's an absolute steal for those who aren't obsessed with mere apps and apps alone. Recently got a 64GB version for just £130 or about $210 :-)

I got myself the 64GB Playbook, and love it. As for tablet size - I've had a 4.2 inch phone, my sister has one of the 5.3 inch phones - I fully see a reason for the 7 inch tablets. They're still much nicer to work on than the phones, but I really don't want to lug around a 10 inch tablet. I'm going to be working a job where portability can be a big thing - I MAY get a 10 inch tablet and keyboard to fill the gap between this and my 17 inch laptop - or I may just use this and a keyboard.

It depends on what you like. Most people who have tablets generally have a smart phone and I don't know about you, but I personally feel weird taking pics on a big ass tablet versus my phone. But to each his/her own. Also, as a gamer, I can't even BEGIN to consider getting dual core processing power in a world that's CLEARLY transitioning to quad core. Plus blackberry is doing pretty badly in the market so I'm not confident in whether they'll be around for future updates, devices etc.

Not all people like having 5 inch phones and 10 inch ipads. The thing about these 7 inch tablets you can type a lot better and have more control of it in your hands. Also it can fit in your coat pocket.

In my first time watching any of your videos was I impressed by the information provided so thank you for that but as a reply to your opinions, I'd like to put the processor into the playbook also b/c the BlkPB seems to run so well it just lacks in development as the major concern is. W/ the screen size, I think 7-9 in. is preferable for devices like these b/c it still has a tablet sense yet is portable&Apple products are of course better but price is also a key factor in each product.

Hi I just bought the Playbook, it's on special offer at £129 for the 64Gb, I did have the Nexus 7 but the screen kept going wrong which seems common, so got rid, I'd love an iPad but the price is too high for me, great video by the way.

The size of the playbook is perfect for me, If I wanted something bigger I would use a laptop but for public use something smaller than an IPad is fine for most of us, that is really just personal choice.

See, now I think that the 7" tablet is a perfect size, the 9" and larger ones are too big. They're not easy to transport and they get heavy after a while if you're not leaning them against anything. Of course this is just an opinion, and I understand there are people that actually prefer 9 inches. I love the Playbook, I just wish the "Blackberry" wasn't on the side, because I like portrait mode but it feels too sideways because of that logo haha. I don't know, aesthetics, whatever :D

I prefer BB Playbook, mainly because of the hardware and the excellent web browsing experience. I know apps may be lacking somewhat with this device, but while I do play some games on my Playbook, usually when I wanna have fun with apps I go mess with my phone (Samsung Galaxy). Some people I know play a lot of games online & offline but to me it's really not a deciding factor. There are a few games I like and they're either on my laptop or my cell phone, so I really don't need more on my tablet. Maybe it's different for others but personally, apps are not why I wanted a tablet. Considering that, BB Playbook is perfect for me. I like the size and the solid, practical hardware because my tablet is basically what I carry around everywhere, something I can't really do with my bigger, heavier laptop. I like to take pictures and make videos with my Playbook so the front AND rear facing cameras are awesome in that aspect! Also, as I mentioned, to me a tablet is really a smaller replacement for my laptop; what I mainly do with it is surf the Internet. Blackberry Playbook is great for that so again, perfect for me. I don't see myself replacing it with something else unless it breaks or somehow stops working.

I bought the playbook 64g for 200.00. I did a lot of research before i bought it. I'm a musician so I go to a lot of concerts/clubs and i wanted to have something portable that would be able to record good video. The playbooks 1080p, front and back, record very good quality video. But what is even more incredible is the sound of the recording. Clean, no distortion, stereo..not like the android i had. Yes it lacks apps, and would be sweet if it had skype and fucking netflix..but oh well.

Whatever you say. Hardware doesn't lie though. Nexus 7 (1.2 or 1.3 Ghz? gig of RAM , higher resolution, 600,000 plus apps i think?) Playbook (1 Ghz, gig of RAM not even HD resolution, and few apps). Don't get me wrong for the price I paid ($118 for a 32 gig playbook) The playbook is great. Better than most $500 tablets in my opinion. But a simple OS update isn't going to make it blow the Nexus 7 out of the water.

Both are great tablets. I got time to play with both and | have a Android phone so learning the Nexus 7 is extremely easy. The speed of the Nexus 7 is amazing and love the Jelly Bean software... now I know what the Butter version is, so smooth - very comparable to iOS software. The Android Market has plenty of apps to choose. But I chose the Playbook 2.1 as this tablet will get the BB10 upgrade, love the solid feel, great cameras, and the powerful multitasking ability.

4:55 I think he meant to say the Nexus7 has Android 5.0 Jelly Bean. (4.1 is ICS.). BB Playbook is a best browser and Ipad Safari is the absolute worst browser. I personally don't like the Ipad 9 inch form factor for a tablet, I just prefer a laptop at that point. To me 9 inches is too bulky to lug around and use in one hand. So I much prefer the 7 inch size. I think QNX on the Playbook is the best OS and I like the app count of IPAD.

Look, I own both tablets. Don't rely on specs. Blackberry's screen looks better. The OS runs smoother and multitasking is awesome. That being said, I reach for my Nexus 7 more than my Playbook due to its lighter weight and feel in my pocket, Google Chrome and Facebook integration. As far as apps Playbook has ENOUGH to where it isn't a factor.

I love my 32gb playbook. I just do not like the lack of eBay, paypal, text free apps, and no ability of using an otg adapter. For these reasons, I give the tablet 2/10 if you need anything like that. Web browsing and hd video recording are top notch, but then its really not much more than a digital camera with a web browser...

I can tell from your comment that you DIDN'T use both. the Playbook slaps N7 off the map. Voice Recording classroom lectures from the back of the room WHILE taking 1080P pictures of the white board!! can your N7 do that?! Seriously.. if you people want a gaming device... its called a PSP... if you want a movie viewing device.. its called a laptop... when it comes for using a tablet for what it really is intended for... Playbook is the ONLY tablet. bezel gestures > back button ANY given day

When it comes to the OS, sure the Playbook is better. But that is because Android is a virtual machine. I just bought a PB, but as much as I love it, i have to return it, because it lacks basic functions, such as asian language input and native apps. If the PB had the specs of a N7, the Playbook would probably outperform any mobile device. The PB (and BB in general) socres another point for being made in Taiwan, instead of China like almost all other Brand's devices (Nokia has some exceptions).

SHout out to my homie on section 8. but trufly great price, great and easy to hold in the hand not heavy like an ipad + protection from an outter box, more free apps, and allot more choises other than ipad and ipad mini.

play book sucks, and the pricing for a second hand unit depreciation is a good example of how many people feel the same way as I do, I have both of the above unit. Nexus 7 all the way, and I used the Playbook over a year...!! very disappointed...!! -_- no apps whats so over, the internet crashes a lot, it lags for no reason...!! you dont feel like its dual core! -_- and when updates have bugs in them, it takes for ever until the next update... the only good thing was the high volume and the touchable frame... 5mo and 3mp camera, but you cant use them to chat -_- you got one app to video chat, so whats the point? Nexus does everything, but better and faster
