The Nexus G1 is a chassis-mod in essence. It's not a new camera. Looking into the details, it's strictly limited in features to what the Pocket 6K G2 offers. They took the pocket 6K internals and put it into a new body, and then integrated the various aftermarket features into the same chassis...but my guess is that they're still communicating to the pocket 6K camera via the same means as anyone else. I don't think they have their own firmware or special communication access. That's why it has 2 screens. The modular screen is the old BMD screen that is being moved around, and the body integrated screen is their own module that just interfaces with the camera as some accessory while also controlling the electronic ND. It's for the same reason that they don't have CF Express or USB 3.2 g2 with faster writespeeds; they're limited to what the pocket 6K G2 board offers. Overall a very cool product and very complete product plan. They really looked at how people use the product and designed for that. And very likely, once this is in the market and a successfull product, Nexus will focus on making either their own camera or have a better partnership with BMD/other for their next product.

After watching all available Canon footage regarding these cameras i came to the conclusion that autofocus does not appear to be on par with the Sony offering. Since we are not talking about a cheap camera here thats a pill to swallow. The canon foto af is a different story. People would move systems if the offering is truly compelling. Compelling could be a real sticky video af that leapfrogs or at least matches competition comparable to what r1 offers for foto. Also a 6k full frame DGO with 1 stop better DR compared to C70 would make people consider to switch systems. It could be that Canon delivered just enough to keep customers from leaving, appeal to some, but is this offering compelling enough for production companies who already use Fx3/6/Burano workflows to switch systems?

I been thinking about the Nexus G1. I wonder if they are simply buying BMPCC 6k pro replacement parts (logic boards, screen, and sensor) directly from Black Magic at cost and housing them in their own body. To me that sounds like the only way you could do this and make any kind of profit.

Good point, actually... in the FAQs they're saying that they are a Blackmagic certified dealer now, which would support your assumption about the spare parts. Nino

Guys, you got confused: it does ProRes, not ProRes RAW. It's literally a BMPCC 6K G1 in a box body with lots of extras.

Indeed I did confuse it but I think I corrected myself within seconds :) Nino

@@CineD That you did. For sure. It's still great, that Thomas finally is getting this thing of the ground. Getting exciting.

How did they get the Sony IMX410-family sensor? Blackmagic already purchased it from Sony and they are simply re-selling it to this company...along with all the other pre-made boards.

A fusion of Nexus G1 with Pyxis, and you have a modern one-man band camera I would love to invest in. All we need is triple base ISO, but you just can't have it all. I don't understand Canon's long-term plan for the C80 not coming with CF Express B cards, and I don't understand why they're sticking with that form factor either.

Can the Nexus G1 shoot open gate?

No, it's based on the Blackmagic 6K G1

Why would BM give an okay to this Nexus G1? Isn't this gonna take customers away from Pyxis??
@RedShade_Studios18 сағат бұрын
Because open ecosystems matter and the sensor size is different.

I think it’s doubtful they can produce enough units to bite into Blackmagic sales. Not to mention, black magic are obviously getting the money from the original sale of the original camera. So worrying about this is like worrying about all the previously sold blackmagic cameras selling on the used market taking sales from new cameras. 😂
@scottievee33016 сағат бұрын
@@galenbeals3538 Not worrying about it... at all... ever. Not a Black Magic shooter. I just thought it was a better Pyxis, that is having issues. :D

Because they make a sell either way. It's based on the p6k. So BM can happily sell off their stock of it. And while Nexus and Pyxis are similar, there are some features that each have that the others dont. So BM wins either way
