This might be what I've been looking for! I play fine with the paddles I have, but I miss feedback of a spring bed from a racquet and I think it will help me feel the ball better on contact. How would you compare the feel of the Prostar to a racquet or a ping pong paddle vs other paddles?
@ThePicklePulse7 күн бұрын
The ProStar is the best sweet-spot I’ve ever hit! If you can handle a slightly heavier paddle, you’ll love this. It doesn’t feel like any other paddle I’ve reviewed, but the overall feel is sturdy and plush.

@@ThePicklePulse That sounds tempting. I'm between this and the Ronbus Pulsar FX R1 as my next paddle. Have you played the Pulsar FX?

I accidentally deleted my original post, but I ordered one of these. I had been using a Luxx Epic which has been great for me. However, the grit wears off quickly. So I thought I'd try something totally different. First, I think I'm more of a standard wide body shape over the elongated shape. The Nexus is a little more poppy than the Luxx and definitely more powerful on put aways, which is nice. The Nexus has a nice soft feel but it's not the pillow that I'm used to with the Luxx. I think it's very attractive and several people asked me about it today. It comes with a padded whole paddle case not just a head cover which is a very nice touch. My Selkirk Luxx came with no cover at all. I don't have too much time with it yet, but I'll give it a few more games. Because it is so much different, I'll need some extra time with it.

Have you ever considered a slyce end cap to make the swingweight feel less?
@ThePicklePulseАй бұрын
That’s a good idea, but in general it’s not that head heavy.

How would you compare the power to the Engage Pursuit paddles? How is the sweetspot in the throat area?
@ThePicklePulseАй бұрын
I would say the power is very similar to the engage, The sweet spot is huge on this paddle, but I’m sure your going to lose it around the throat, it can only go so far! lol 😂 With that being said, it ha sone of the best sweet spots I’ve ever hit. Super consistent

Were you able to measure the swing weight and twist weight? Thanks
@ThePicklePulseАй бұрын
So the answer is yes, but I did the test after I had my paddle fully set up. I added a Wilson Perforated over grip and 3grams of lead tape on search side at the throat. The swing weight came out to 127.10, and the twist weight was 6.9 after my modifications.

@@ThePicklePulse I have the same preferred modifications so that's perfect! Different question, you mentioned the Prostar making your travel/tournament bag - what other paddles are in the bag?

How is the feel? Soft, hard or firm? More soft then Shogun?

The best way to describe it is plush, the titanium feels stiff at first, but the sweetspot is so big and juicy every shot feels great.

Great review. Do you feel like this might be the more controlled option for those of us who love joola gen3 mod but struggle to consistently reset really hard incoming fast balls bc of unpredictability of the propulsion core? I did hear this paddle just mentioned on John kew pod, but Why aren’t some of the really well known reviewers doing reviews of it. Still might be reluctant to try bc like shogun sounds sort of head heavy though
@ThePicklePulseАй бұрын
This is exactly what you described, a controlled Gen 3 paddle. The sweet spot is huge and the paddle feels super plush almost every time you hit it. It is a little head heavy, but I fixed it by putting a little lead tape down at the throat.

Waiting for the competition to start releasing their TI faced versions. The cells being filled with foam has me wondering about "adhesion". Guessing the foam to PP contact will let lose at some point. I play the OM EVO not the AERO which is a "concept" EVA core. I also play the GB Pro Pwr E, so I get POP. I'm looking for plush feel for a softer short game paddle.

Where does the compare to other power paddles out there that you’ve played with? Need some context as sometimes saying 8/10 means nothing bc everyone’s numbers are diff
@ThePicklePulseАй бұрын
It doesn’t have nearly the pop or power of a Joola, or Gearbox, but has 10-15% more power than the Thrive Azul or the 11six24 14mm. The best thing about the paddle is its super juicy sweetspot, durability, and “Controllable” Power. I hope this helps!
