The Highly likely Possibility Onaga wanted Li Mei by his side is because she is born from Outworld hates the Deadly Alliance, and Shao Kahn as much as Onaga does, back when Onaga used to be Ruler of Outworld, Shao Kahn was his advisor especially gave him drinks 🍷 anytime, each Clans were Unified under Onaga's rule, but Shao Kahn never liked his rule, that's why he deceived him, poisoned his drink 🍸, Got Him Killed, under Shao Kahn's rule Outworld went into Chaos, not like the Chaosrealm, but became a dangerous and Chaotic place enough, he had a different empire from Onaga, he wanted to rule each Realms wants without having the Clans in Outworld Unified, most of Outworld followed his Reign, very few villages of Outworld didn't like his Rule, some Hated Shao Kahn in Secret, Li Mei's Village is one of the Groups of People that Secretly hated Shao Kahn and wanted him to Die, along with hate the Deadly Alliance, there were even some Villages from Other Realms that got Merged with Outworld that Secretly hated Shao Kahn, while most of the places those Former Single Realms that got Merged with Outworld worshipped Shao Kahn more than Enough to Follow him, including places that used be Realms Such as Reptile's home Zattera, Nitara home Vaeternus, Edenia until it got Unmerged, but in the Altered New timeline Where RAIDEN gotten Elder Gods Fury Power to get Shao Kahn Killed Early, Edenia still stays merged with Outworld, anyway Li Mei was most likely willing as well to get all of her home Realm Outworld Reunified, like how Onaga knew Shujinko as a child in Konquest wanted to enter the Mortal Kombat Tournament to get Earthrealm freed from Shang Tsung along With Quan Chi Rule, he mostly likely knew Li Mei wanted Outworld Reunified, he happens to be Liking her, and Wants her as his Queen.
