Perhaps better to use this as a second authentication factor (a la Duo Security/RSA tokens). That way, if your password is stolen...someone still can't get in without stealing your ring (or duplicating it).

can I use this to do multiple things? For example unlock my phone, computer and even a hose door?

Can I use any NFC tag with this code, or does it have to be the ring? I've added the code to the Leo and open the window and nothing happens. Just a blank window.

hello. i have an arduino uno. i must do the same thing ( for the pin 6 ) to the shield? i want the project only for reading the passwd and not to typing the passwd on the pc . thank you

Why not use a Flora or the feather or another atmega32u compatible like the Pro Micro? A Leonardo seems overkill for something like this!

+jorenmartijn Leonardo uses the same 32u4 microcontroller as Flora and many of the Feathers. Its used for its HID keyboard support in this case, and the form fits easily with the shield!

Nice ring, but storing your password on an NFC tag? Not a good idea...

+CooperDuper3000 If I undertand well you don't save the password on your nfc but on the arduino.

+Ponsaille That's correct. You could not get the password from the NFC tag. You could however spoof the UID if you were able to scan their tag or you could decompile the arduino and extract the password from that. Overall not super secure but then again neither is a windows password.

+Vokoder you could obfuscate the code and set the fuse that blocks you from reading the code on the atmega but the nfc tag can be spoofed.

+MrApplecraft Yeah NFC tags in general are inherently insecure due to being readable ID tags. -- Love the tech for data transfer though!
