Hi there, Great Video. So you need Home Assistant to be able to create functions like Lights on/off, curtains open/close.I have just downloaded Home Assistant costing £5 despite me already having Smart Life, which currently controls all my Home Automation, of which, NFC does not recognize. What a waste of money (£5) that was. Half the Home Assistant instructions are in Chinese as well. Using a spare smart plug, Home Assistant did not hand-shake hands with it. As from my own experience, NFC is a total waste of time. I can't recommend NFC at all. I loved your video though. Thank you.

If you have an iphone & use google assistant/home, you can connect iOS "shortcuts" with google assistant and pass on commands to google. A little delayed but it works! (You can do the same with Android through some app, but I'm not familiar with this one).

This is something I'm looking forward to trying when I upgrade a phone. In the meantime, I'll try some quick-access widget to run shortcuts. By the way, getting location data via Shortcuts is possible for me. There are actions called "Location" and "Get Details of Locations." Of course, then you'd have to have some logic to determine if it was assumed at work, perhaps based on a range of latitudes or something.

So, you CAN use NFC tags with the Tasker app on Android to trigger google assistant routines, but the home assistant solution is MUCH better and easier to set up. Tasker is not under friendly.

Tasker isn't user friendly, but it's not NOT user friendly. It's not like you have to program anything - it just has a bit of a learning curve. Also, Alexa can also be controlled via Tasker, but it's a bit of a convoluted process.

@@loganfisher3138 Eh, I'll grant you it isn't bad once you get over the initial problems, but I really hate the notification running all the time to make it work right and a few other things about it just rub me wrong.

How can I get my iPhone to run the Home Assistant tag action without tapping the notification? I want to lock my door when I scan the tag

Great video! Got a lot of info out of this. For example, on iPhone, do you always get this notification pop-up when scanning a NFC tag that you have to click on? That kinda ruins it. Creating the tags in Shortcuts on every phone for every family member is not very convenient.

Nice video. I am trying to figure out how to usa a NFC Tag to make my phone run an action. I got it to work but everytime I scan the tag the phone ask me which app to read the NFC tag? I can't figure out how to set as the default app to read and run the action. I'm using Tasker as the APP that I want to run the trigger and action. Can you help. What am I doing wrong
