Making it a “rule” never made sense and created a situation where mainly “black” coaches are paraded around like body armor against accusations of racism. The rule should be QUICKLY ended and the owners need to have serious discussions amongst themselves to figure it out. @dionj.pierre4 жыл бұрын
The answer to this simple: identify black nerds when they’re young and give them a possible track to become coaches if they have talent. I personally don’t know a single other black person (other than myself and I’m very much black ish) who loves football AND would love to coach. The culture pushes most young black guys interested in football to turn their bodies into ATMs when most of them aren’t going to sustain a pro level career. Blacks who can coach well are out here, but come on everyone should use their eyes to see what the problem is. All the black kids growing up want to be Lamar not Bill Belichick, the Wesleyan graduate turned 6x SB winning coach. If the media simply made it cool for black kids to use their brains a change would occur. If Lamar had all his talent but with headset strapped to his ear, he would for sure inspire young black kids to consider coaching. And the other thing too is culture. Football’s culture is very ‘Jacksonian’ old America. There’s no room for the hip hop attitude at the stadium. So a Mike Tomlin, Tony Dungy, or Jim Caldwell are always going to be the mold after which black coaches are sculpted. But you can’t mold black coaches in that image if black kids are taught from youth not just to prefer a Lamar-type over a Tomlin-type, but to alienate a Tomlin-type and condemn him as an abettor of the system. There are dimensions to this that FOX can’t explore on its morning television. I really wouldn’t try.

No matter what the league does, you cant force an owner to hire someone he doesnt want to, unless you enforce a race-based quota, but then you'd be putting race over qualifications. It's an unsolvable conundrum.
@jacjr61934 жыл бұрын
Exactly which goes completely against MLK’s desired to have individuals be judged off the content of their character and not the color of their skin. The Rooney rule and this ideology of forcing owners to hire coaches to meet this racial quota are equally asinine. Affirmative action in colleges is the same thing. Awarding someone more privilege based off their skin color and not off the content of their character.

Not Only do NFL Owners Conduct "TOKEN" Interviews with Minority Candidates for Head Coaching Openings, On the Rare Occasion a Minority Candidate is Selected to through The Interview Process to Become a Head Coach of an NFL Franchise, it is Often a Reclaimation Project. Most of The Time, if Hired, the Teams Front Office and Ownership Expect for the Team to Struggle for a Season or Two while The Team Stockpiles Talent through the Draft and Free Agency. What Usually happens though is Once the Front Office and Ownership feel they have a Talented Enough Team to be a Contender, what Usually Happens is The Minority Hire is Let Go for the Next Hot Shot Coaching on a Playoff or Superbowl Team. Or like in The Case of Lovie Smith, The Hot Shot Assistant could be Your Own Offensive Coordinator. The Year Lovie Smith was Fired from being The HC of The Tampa Bay Bucs, He had Won 4 more Games than his Previous Year There as HC. And He Did it with a Rookie(Jameis Winston)QB and He Still Lost his Job, Only To Be Replaced by his Own Offensive Coordinator. Dirk Koetter. Hue Jackson Won 1 Game in 2 Seasons as HC of The Browns. Then in His Third Season when The Team has Multiple Wins and a Tie and They Fire Him???? This Year The Miami Dolphins Have a Minority Head Coach. The Dolphins have Also been Accused of Tanking to Get High Picks in The Draft. It will Be Interesting to See How The Miami Front Office Treats Their Minority Hire Once they Have All Those Draft Picks in House and made a Free Agent Acquisition or Two.

Sometimes hires are similar to a white coach who is intern assistant for the defensive backs. To a Black coach who was a top defensive coordinator for years. The history of American economics closely resembles that of Ancient Egypt, slave labor created and was the foundation of both economies. Most glaring difference was the Hebrews never wanted to integrate with the Egyptians they never wanted integration per say they always wanted separation their own land,religion, customs etc The American oppressed always wanted integration and the oppressors have sophisticatedly created way to integrate but keep distance true equality, Those who create and dictate the rules have always been the oppressors or descendants of the oppressors, the inability to create wealth and transfer wealth down generations has always been the Achilles hill of the oppressed.
