I went 5/5 depending on how you interpret the last one (in every case involving an airborne ball carrier, the front pylon is considered the end of the extended plane of the goal line, and only the front line is considered. Therefore, when the entire ball and the runner has determined to cross the plane of the goal beyond the pylon, he is considered to be out of bounds, regardless of where he or the ball lands.)

SCENARIO 3 is INCORRECT. IT IS A LIVE BALL (A). The situation was from this link: www.chatsports.com/nfl/a/This-Bizarre-NFL-Rule-Will-Have-You-Shaking-Your-Head-19361 however, that rule was changed in 2008 to the following: Muffed snap: It will now be a live ball when a direct snap from center to a player who is in position to receive a hand-to-hand snap goes untouched. It was previously called a false start, but now either team may recover and advance the untouched snap. My apologies to anyone who i told was wrong, I did not know the rule had been changed. I WAS WRONG.

This rule was NOT changed. A few extra words were added to 8-4--1 in 2008 to emphasize that it is STILL a live ball. My point is: Do not take anyone's word about the rules. Look them up for yourself. And if anything differs from the Official Rule Book of the National Football League, that document or the person's word is the incorrect version. The casebook and any other information given to team must match the Official Rule Book.

On #5, the official rulebook never defines which pylon is THE pylon. So I guess it's whatever Goodell wants at that moment. After a 30 minute delay with at least twelve commercial breaks.

Once the ball goes out of bounds, the ball is dead. You said so yourself when the field goal bounces off the goal post into the end zone. So it doesn't matter if he's diving for the rear pylon, it's a dead ball at the 1 yard line.

the last one is a td because the pylon is the width of the end zone (10 yards), the goal line is the length (52 1/3 yards). when runners reach for the pylon, they're breaking the plane at the front of the end zone. in this example, the runner broke the pylon line that makes up the side of the end zone..

Back in the 1980s, there used to be a series that would come up in between commercials. It was called "YOU make the call." It was often sponsored by IBM or Alcoa. It would feature a controversial play with a cliffhanger question. "What call would YOU make?" Then it would cut to commercial and then come back with the answer. It was well done and I wish it would make a comeback.

So if u fumble at the 1 and slap the ball up in the air towards the back of the endzone. Then hav ur teammate give another teammate a piggyback ride and jump out of the back of the endzone. Then the teammate who is recieving the piggy back jumps off of the teammate before he hits the ground, catches the ball, and dives for the pylon backline of the endzone, its a td.

The last scenario in my opinion should be a fumble because while diving, u r switching hands with the ball and it would be extremely hard to have full control while switching the ball between your hands. In that case it should be a fumble but that is just my opinion.

The rule in the last scenario used to be different. It was a TD if the ball was outside the pylon, but the runner got some part of his body above the pylon. I distinctly remember watching a game where Mike Vick did that - he dove out of bounds with the ball in his left hand, and he stuck his right arm out over the pylon, and it was correctly called a TD.

I am coaching against an undefeated team for the 2nd time in a season. It is low level Illinois freshman high school football. We are losing by 3 points in the 4th quarter and had to punt on a fourth down. The punter was also our QB, the snap made it to him, but the punt was blocked. It was blocked though to where it floated straight up, and happened to be caught by our punter, who then ran it for a first down. The opposing sideline went insane, parents watching included, saying the whistle should've been blown when the punter caught it, and made it a dead ball. Anyways we took that first down all the way into the endzone and ruined their undefeated season. One of the best and fun games I've ever had the privilege of coaching.

The closest I could find to recreating the last rule was Reggie Bush’s pylon dive in 2009 (Saints @ Dolphins) Week 7 (Play begins at 13:33 in the 4th). He dove through the air, the ball passed into the end zone but not a body part of his landed in the end zone

I know I’m over a year late to this, but something odd happened between the Steelers and the Ravens that would make a good scenario for this video or a possible sequel. The Ravens are down by less than a touchdown and are trying to make a comeback drive. Joe Flacco snaps the ball with ~50-60 seconds on the clock, drops back and is sacked by TJ Watt. While he is sacked, the ball comes free and tumbles out of bounds. Flacco brings his teammates into the huddle to communicate the next play but he is soon told that the game is over and the Steelers have won. Why did the game end? *Clock sounds* Joe Flacco is not allowed to fumble the ball forward like that. Apparently it’s a rule against fumbling intentionally near the end of a game to stop the clock, and it had something to do with the Tuck Rule

My theory on Scenario 5, the ball goes out of bounds while the runner is airborne. The ball is dead as soon as it goes out of bounds and is placed at the closest yard marker to the point it went out of bounds, in this case the 1 yard line.

Weirdly enough, the solution to Scenario Three sounds the most logical. It reminds me of the Holy Roller rule: within the two minute warning (or on fourth down), if you fumble the ball, you're the only offensive player that can pick it up.

Situation 2: If he grabs the ball with no part of his body in bounds then the call is that there will be a penalty for kicking the free kick out of bounds. Situation 3: If the receiver is tackled immediately then there is no fumble. He was tackled, remember?

If a field goal is missed, it is possible for 1 of the field kicking team to receive the ball for a touch down?

The answer on the bad snap is A if the wide receiver is not on the line or the ball is on the ground, which based on the trajectory it'd have to have taken to go through the QB's legs it would certainly be. This rule is to prevent Center Sneaks or the center snapping the ball up in the air and having a pulling guard grab it out of the air.

As long as the superman player and the ball dont touch the ground, any other part of the building or the goalpost, he can fly circles arround the stadium and still score his TD after landing :D

That last one has been bugging me for years thank you so much for the answer. I used to also wonder it from a pass point of view if a throw went outside the pylon and was caught in the endzone but still outside the pylon but feet in bounds would that be a td?
