Spot on! A monumental failure, not of Young, but of both coaching and ownership! Dumping that responsibility on Young's shoulders when he obviously wasn't ready, getting hammered from day one, and then blaming him for not "measuring up." Not every young qb can jump right in, and there's no shame sitting behing a veteran and learning. Plenty of great ones have done it.

Bryce Young is easily, by far, the worst QB of the last 18 games. It's one thing to be patient and it's another to punt entire seasons to develop one player. These teams are running a business, they need Ws to put butts in the seats. Every season is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. With how much they gave up for Bryce I'm sure he'll get another chance, but him starting every game this year was going to lead to another dead last finish, and you essentially lose your entire fanbase if you string together three seasons of last place finishes in any pro sport.

This will causes shockwaves in Carolina, for good and bad, but they made the right decision. Bryce is still Young, no pun intended. He can dive deep as to whether he even wants to stay in NFL after this benching or be backup elsewhere. Dalton deserves a real shot at being starting QB, and this is it, albeit it is a very late career opportunity. He is a Bengal Legend, and more. Does Dalton have any Tom Brady esque longevity? We might see a lot of him, and I am about to enjoy it.

Going to be more eli manning/elway situations quickly. They draft you on a bad team, throw you out there week 1, then bench you when you don't pull off a miracle. Mayfield, Darnold, Lance, Young...etc etc. Teams are no longer drafting a QB to build around, they are flinging darts at a savior. I personally would take a long hard look at who might be drafting me if I was a highly touted QB coming out. Young should have sat all last year, but they gave up all their potential to build in the trade...so lets fire him out there and pray he is a miracle.

Only 2 games into the season, Canales realized that he needed to save his job, and threw Bryce Young under the bus. It's one thing to accuse him of that; it's another to say that it was the right decision. Considering the owner he's working for, if Canales stuck the course with Bryce, he doesn't make it to Christmas 2024. Also, if they win 5 games with Andy Dalton, what are the executives going to tell him? That he should have stuck with Bryce? This decision would have led to 3 more wins than last year, so he wouldn't be going anywhere. The fact that he would have 5 years left on his contract also doesn't hurt.

The Panthers, and specifically David Tepper, were bamboozled into drafting Young #1. There's no other way to look at this. The league got together and colluded to rank Young as the no doubt top of the line generational talented QB and that the Panthers would be insane not to draft him. And now the league is collectively laughing at the Tepper the newbie owner making things 10 times than they had ever been before. I don't even think the 1-15 George Siefert Panthers were anywhere close to this bad. At least they got Julius Peppers in the 02 draft from that fiasco. Who knows what lurks at the bottom of this well that Tepper has dug and seems content to keep digging. Hey, I just came up with the Panthers new chant... KEEP DIGGING!

@@ryanjacobson2508 Very true, but I don't recall the Chargers trading away a bunch of talent plus future picks to pick Brees in the 2nd round of the 2001 draft. The Panthers traded away a ton to draft Young, who Frank Reich didn't even want.

I had the misfortune of seeing parts of the saints game and the low lights from the chargers, right now Young looks like the worst nfl staring qb I’ve seen in a long time. They needed to bench him to see how a backup plays to just judge if Young is as bad as he looks.

The real reason for the Bryce young benching has nothing to do with winning games. The Panthers would love another number one pick guaranteed. The reason is : Vegas. Too many people winning money off the Panthers misfortune. Even if they make the odds high, paying out pennies on the dollar, that is billions of pennies to millions of players that play, every week. Dalton presente some disruption to that process. He may get lucky and win a few.

I called out every terrible move the panthers have made that has gotten us to this point. I wanted stroud for all sorts of reasons but with that being said as much as i was worried about bryces size it was more about what stroud was good at not what bryce lacked. So far i think size has been a factor but most of all the thing holding bryce back is his mentality. You have to believe you are the baddest mofo on the field, that no one can stop you. Bryce does not have that mentality.. all of the winners do.

This might go down as one of the worst draft busts of all time. Remember Carolina just didn't draft him #1 overall, they traded a boatload of picks (one of which turned into the Caleb Williams pick) AND DJ Moore to the Bears to go get him. Watching him play, it's very obvious he had no business being taken that high, especially when you see how good CJ Stroud is.
