Out of respect for this storied franchise's 90-year history--and with strict deference to today's young fans who have no memory [(until now, thus far)] of this team winning on a consistent basis, like they did when I was young--I simply can not refer to the Burgundy And Gold by it's new moniker "Commanders." As a 56-year fan of Washington and witness to the team's exciting 1970s success and 1980s exhilerating glory, I must AND WILL go to my grave calling my beloved team The Washington Redskins. That's what they are and have always been to me. Thank you. #HTTR 👍

Once they win titles under "commanders" then what?
@ralphlewis30412 ай бұрын
@@BmoreAkuma "Then what," you ask? If enough NFL, popular and corporate support is brought to bear, then change the name back to the proper moniker "Redskins." Problem solved. This franchise won five NFL Championships [(1937, 1942, 1982, 1987 & 1991)] as The Washington Redskins. If the name remains "Commanders," I'll just have to live with it and get on with my life. At least the team seems to have returned to it's winning ways I knew as a much younger person. No thanks to Dan Snyder, who spent 24 long, sorry years turning this once-respected Organization into a sad joke. But Snyder is gone, and Thank Goodness for that. #HTTR

The people who question our enthusiasm over ‘small’ things like this haven’t experienced the hell us diehards have lived through for a quarter freaking century. And that’s ok. They don’t need to get it. But it really does feel good and gets me excited thinking about who’s running this team. We’re in such good hands with the ownership group who understand that you hire guys like AP for a reason and they’ve given keys to do as he sees fit. You can’t ask for any more than that. And we can’t overstate the impact of having a seriously good talent evaluator finding guys that fit the mold of what DQ considers to be Commanders. And those two guys are in lock step with each other as far as what they want this team to look like and we haven’t had that here in so fucking long. How can you be a fan of this team and not be extremely hopeful for the present and the future? The thought of signing one or two very good to elite free agents at major impact positions then having all the draft capital that we do and the cap money, it’s a dream situation when you have what looks like at the very minimum a top 10 Qb in his rookie year. And what’s really exciting is we can build this roster in a way that our window will be open even after Jayden signs his second contract bc aside from a couple big free agent signings we’re building this thing through the draft. As good as AP is we can’t expect every draft to hit like how this ‘24 draft seems to be hitting on damn near every player but I’m confident we’ll have more hits than misses. Based just off of this first year with how they got solid veterans that were very strategically chosen and how they’ve sorta taken on leadership roles, all with very manageable salaries on top of what looks to be a draft class that should be the core of this football team for the next 6-8 years, they’ve damn near pulled off a flawless really first offseason. And the cherry on top is that our Qb is only going to get better and better every year. It almost feels too good to be true but that’s my PTSD talking. Which by the way seems to be working itself out of my system more and more with each game we play. But seriously, as a fan who has just wanted my old Skins team back for so long, I honestly couldn’t have dreamed we’d be where we are right now. So you can count me as one of the more excited fans of this team now and going forward bc with the way this team is set up with legit football minds running the show and a little luck the not so distant future and beyond could turn into something really special. Its been a long time since players actively wanted to come here. George Allen brought his "Ramskins" with him from LA. He didn't believe in rookies, we traded DPs for vets. Even with Gibbs 1.0, there wasn't a lot of movement even though there wasn't cap restrictions. DPs stuck, players resigned. I think Riggo was the biggest signing from Jets (?). We had an identity, and true GMs and teaching coaches. The Hogs had Joe Bugel; I guarantee you The Hogs would run through walls for him. We have finally arrived. Vets, want to come play for us. It doesn't get any better than that for a pro team.
