YES it was! But back then they sold it better and hit each other harder and they didn't need to script each and every score. There wasn't as much money on the line back then and not every facet of the game was able to be wagered on like nowadays with live betting and online gambling. The rigging goes back as far as super bowl 3 when Joe Namath guaranteed victory over the highly favored Colts and the Jets won easily. The AFL and NFL merger was a scripted success story.

This game was also a prime example of "point shaving". The Stafford fumble returned for TD that was then overturned and called incomplete pass, then the 2-point conversion by the Vikings where they called a play much like the 4th and 2 pass in the Chargers-Texans game, and finally a long run by the Rams in the 4th quarter which would have put them in a position to seal the game with a Field Goal but which was called back for a non-existent holding penalty (this one baffled even the commentators). That adds up to at least 11 points. So the actual score should have been more like 30-17.
