I don't think some people realize how good Sterling Sharpe was for a little while there during the 90's. You can even argue that he was the top receiver in the league for a about 3 to 4 year period, maybe even ahead of Jerry Rice. Look at the numbers, and he had that one monster season with Don Majkowski at the helm. Sterling's best attribute was his strength. This guy would break tackles as if he were a 230 pound running back. He should be in the HOF one day.
@chuckers407 жыл бұрын
You are not the first to say that Sterling Sharpe should be in the Hall of Fame. Look at the his numbers during his career. Sterling had a short 8 year career. if it wasn't for a career ending neck injury, Sterling Sharpe would be right there in terms of receivers like Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, Cris Carter, and others. He would have been all time great.
@joelmcnultymusic7 жыл бұрын
Sterling was much better than Irvin, Carter. MUCH better.
@rexholez22826 жыл бұрын
I've been a die-hard 49ers fan for 25 years and I remember back then thinking if anyone is up there with Rice, it's Sterling. He dominated pretty much the same he just played nowhere near as long.
@prettyugly6 жыл бұрын
erick m up until his unfortunate injury, he was the best receiver in the NFL, Jerry Rice and Andre Rison included. Back then, for much more of his career, sterling didn't play with a good receiver opposite him to take away the double coverage, and he didn't play with a good Quarterback (even back then, Favre was irratic and nowhere near the QB we grew to admire and respect as a legend).

Still kills me about what happened to Sterling. Dude held the "Triple Crown" one year with Brett Favre, had 18 receiving TDs in one year, second only to Rice, and much more. He was a Pro Bowler 5 times in 6 years, and if it wasn't for that goddamn neck injury, he would definitely be a Super Bowl champion, probably multiple times. He 100% should be in the HOF; fate just dealt him the worst hand imaginable at the worst time imaginable. Really terrible story
@BBBYpsi5 жыл бұрын
He played 7 years. I know what you are saying. I feel the same way about a couple lions players. Herman Moore was never the same after he hurt his knee really bad at the end of 1998. He was doing what Sterling had been doing without the HOF QB. He had Scott Mitchell throwing up prayers to him & he could just out jump everyone. Same with Billy Simms who I believe would have been a HOF RB if not for the knee injury in 1984 that ended his career in game 8 of that year.

@leesmith68662 жыл бұрын
@@patrykkuffel2679 Yup. But I understand the OP's point. However, yes...Politics is not an automatic route for someone of his stature. Matter of fact, Shannon is too pure of heart for politics. Politics is a dirty game. Very few and I mean, VERY FEW people can do that and still be good at heart or at least be just/true to the laws of the land. Shay Shay is doing what he's supposed to do.

Sterling Sharpe ran 1a to Jerry Rice for 3-4 years from 1990 to 1993. The man should be in the Hall of Fame. It's a joke that his body of work isn't considered worthy because he didn't win a ring, but Lynn Swann, who had a pedestrian career amplified by being on a legendary team, is. Meanwhile, Cliff Branch, who had superior numbers, big playoff numbers/games, and three SB rings of his own, might never get in. It's pathetic.

lets spend a moment contrasting this HOF speech with Michael Jordan's. Shannon spent the whole speech honouring and thanking those around him in sports and in life, and in his family. Jordan spent most of his HOF speech taking shots at those around him in his career putting particular emphasis on expoosing those who doubted him. If there's a Sports GOAT in my mind, I'll take Shannon any day.
