@rickygeiger12437 ай бұрын
Do agree with Hendersons injury risk but 2 notes on him. He actually played WR until at least his junior season in HS, he's wildly underutilized in the pass game. He was electric on screens his freshman year and they just don't throw them anymore. Basicallt no one seems to know the story on Judkins, so here it is... he was pissed at Ole Miss because he's their star player name wise and I think they spent a bunch of NIL money to bring guys in and didn't have enough to pay him enough in respect to what they paid for others. 2 kids in his class transferred to OSU last year (including Davidson igbonosun who started at boundary corner) and they're close friends. He entered the portal quickly, called him, told him he wanted to go to Ohio State. Davidson told OSU coaches, they reached out, he said I wanna come. They're like well, we think treveyon is going to come back, I assume you thought he was leaving? And he was like I don't care I want to come either way. They then called treveyon and said hey, we know you're leaning towards coming back, quinshon judkins wants to come here and says he wants to come either way. Henderson entered Ohio State's recruiting class with the #5 RB recruit in the country (he was #1) and they both actively talked about limiting tread for the NFL as being a big reason they'd both committed). Treveyon told the coaches he'd love it if judkins came. They told judkins he's in. Judkins got paid well afterwards, but it wasn't an NIL thing, that's why he was never truly connected to *any* other schools. If you are an NIL kid, you shop yourself and make teams worry. OSU finally started using NIL like 6 months ago, but a lot of their portal wins were less NIL than people seem to believe, they just had the money afterwards to pay them their going rate. Julian Sayin, #1 rated QB transferred from Bama after 2 weeks when saban retired, along with caleb downs. OSU was the runner up in each of their recruitments and particularly with Sayin, he reached out to OSU, told him he wanted in, OSU coaches didn't want to take him at first (they had gotten air noland 2 weeks prior and he was their QB2 of the class on their board 2 weeks ago). Day *LOVED* sayin though (I talked to a guy covering recruiting who had spoken to day at a camp before sayings junior year and has other ties to OSU. He mentioned at that time how much they loved him. Eventually decided hey, we want good players. We will figure out how it changes other plans later, but he also wasn't an NIL guy

Loaded RB class. Offers a bit of everything (power, speed, etc) but definitely lots of "weight room" guys as you like to say haha. Fortunately for Henderson and Judkins, in sharing a RB room, their bodies won't have to take a huge toll this upcoming season. Trevor, I also love the comps you've been doing. Helps me further grasp these players after learning about some of them for the first time.

Fun list. I'd say take a look at Tahj Brooks from Texas A&M as well, just an absolute mauler who runs like the rent is due. 1500 yards in 290 carries, and was going up against some fairly stiff competition (Kansas, Oregon, Texas, Kansas State). Definitely someone I have in my Top 10, even if the long speed and overall shiftiness at the second level is a step below some of the others in the Top 10 for me personally.

I love Ollie Gordon as a prospect. I see him as an incredible zone runner. Almost half of the nfl teams run the Shanahan style offense and I think he fits the outside zone perfectly. Just think of how Derrick Henry builds up speed on outside zone. He also is great of counter and trap runs. I think we could see Ollie Gordon be a 1400 yard season guy and the way he runs he just gets better and better each quarter.
@jacobshorba57537 ай бұрын
Just scouted Hampton and had the exact same thoughts. Super close to being an RB1, but he doesn't match the creativity and ball carrier vision of the top guys. His physical talents make up for a lot of that ground, but he's just short of being RB1 heading into his final season.

Finally, some scouting love for QJ. Breaks my heart that he transferred away, but he was great at Ole Miss from day one as a true freshman. In my biased opinion the most talented back in the country.
@johnlee70857 ай бұрын
Devin did play baseball his freshman year, but decided during his sophomore year that he was going to stick exclusively with football. KU had a TE do the same thing. A slight factor could have been that KU went through a coaching change between when he was recruited and started playing. And while KU is doing well now and better/over on win totals each year, they were as bad as it gets when he was being recruited. He just wanted to stay home and make a difference. They call him the mayor.

Damien Martinez looks a lot like Steven Jackson when he was at Oregon State in the early 2000s. Same size, speed, agility, only he's slightly shorter at 6 foot even. Steven Jackson was 6'2 238 with 4.45-4.50 speed. He was one.of the nfl's sleepers during his playing days with the Rams. His replacing of Marshall Faulk was textbook on how a team replaces veterans with new incoming rookie talent. The Rams didn't miss a beat when MF retired. SJ was the dual threat that MF was.
