Great video. The two moments I'll add to this as far as memorable as someone watching since 1985 was Darrin Nelson's GW TD for the Vikings in 1987. Great great Turkey Day game...44-38. Saved the season for Minnesota, who got hot and went to the NFC Championship Game. And the 1994 Detroit game where the Lions put the first nail in the coffin of the Bills dominance over the AFC. And it wasn't Barry Sanders, but DAVE KRIEG, who cooked the 4x defending AFC Champs. My pops, while making a peach cobbler just looked at me and said, "we finally won't have to see them get their butts kicked in the Super Bowl!"

Tragic story about that first non-Dallas/Detroit hosted NFL Thanksgiving game in 2006 (hosted by Kansas City against the Broncos on NFL Network - the very first live game shown on NFL Network). The man responsible for bringing that game to KC was Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt (yes, the same Lamar Hunt that the Lamar Hunt trophy is named after)! He worked so hard for so many years to bring an NFL thanksgiving game to Kansas City. But hours before the game, his lung collapsed and he had to be hospitalized, so he didn't get to attend the game! If that wasn't tragic enough, the hospital he was at didn't have NFL Network, so it didn't get to watch it at all! 😢😢😢 Kansas City thankfully went on to win that game and improbably made the playoffs that year (yes, there was a time when Kansas City making the playoffs was seen as improbable)! As one Kansas City played said after the game (as best as I can remember), "The least we could for Lamar Hunt was win!"

Yeah, but they aren't religiously played every year and know who is in them. Thanksgiving started out as one game, went to two, then three and you know the lions and cowboys are in it every year. Halloween could be any day of the week same with X mas and could be any team, plus nothing special happens or has, well I'm sure some records are held, but same could be said for any other week. I think Wild card, divisional round, conference champ round, SB and pro bowl would be funner like how the pro bowl was after the SB. How TB has broke almost if not every post season record the only one he probably doesn't hold is pro bowl records, but it's cause he probably went to a couple or so.

One of the best Thanksgiving plays that never gets mentioned is in Cowboys-Saints 2010. Late in the 4th, the Cowboys lead by 4. Cowboys throw a pass over the middle that goes for a lot of extra yardage but Malcolm Jenkins still wants to win so he just steals the ball from Roy Williams, takes it right out of his arm. Saints go on to score a touchdown and win the game. Great effort play that doesn't get the credit it deserves in this type of video because it didn't happen in the 80s.

That means that in the late 1960s, there were four Turkey Day games. And since those records are recognized by the NFL, it seems like a bit of a glaring omission.

One Thanksgiving Day game should be mentioned. It involves a Dallas team, but not the Cowboys. On Thanksgiving Day, 1952, the Dallas Texans earned their only win in their existence with a 27-23 defeat of the Chicago Bears. By that time though, the Texans were from Dallas in name only. The team had gone bankrupt and had been taken over by the NFL. The Thanksgiving Day game was scheduled to be played in Dallas, but the NFL moved the game to Akron. The Texans were the last NFL team to fold, with the franchise sold to a group from Baltimore, forming the second incarnation of the Colts.
