Living in the Bay Area all my life......NO ONE ever rooted against Joe when he played for the Chiefs. There was a guy who sold hats and shirts that had 16/19 on them....there was a protest of sorts as fans would show up at home games with KC stuff on with their 49er stuff...... didn't matter who we were playing. Steve Young didn't do a great job of dealing with it either....if he had been more relaxed , I think fans would have been more forgiving. But his frustration with the Joe situation was annoying to fans. It wasn't Steve's fault Joe left, but he wasn't helping win fans over with his "Joe's done" attitude. When Steve Bono left, joining KC and Joe.....it made sense to us fans. It sucked seeing Joe with another team. Listening to Brent Jones complain to fans " You need to route for your team, not a player" didn't go over very well either. KC was one game away from the super bowl.......Joe had a tough game, got his bell rung and had his first serious thoughts of retiring....they lost. The defeat in Joe's face was haunting.....but it was time. The fans that went through that healed up.....began to see the 49ers differently, and lightened up on Steve.....even me. As the clock ticked, Steve Young began to finally relax and be himself.....Bono took over the Chiefs QB job and the Niners won another SB. It was an amazing time to be a fan. Not to mention it was an impressionable time for me. I was 17 when they won their first SB in 1982......30 when they won in 1995. At 55, I can say, I'd feel pretty lucky to say they won another one.....pretty lucky indeed.

Imagine if Montana had another receiver instead of Willie Davis. Each time you post a new game he drops a bunch of easy catches.

Interesting.... WR Ed McCaffrey wore #89 in this game and later changed to #81 for the rest of the season and DE #95 Richard Dent injured his knee in a pile up late in the 4th quarter and was out for most of the year until the playoffs began. Guard #61 Jesse Sapolu tweaked his hamstring in the game and joined the street clothes Offensive Line posse OT #79 Harris Barton and G #64 Ralph Tamm on the bench.

12:56 is an angle that modern broadcasts are missing. 👍👍

KC was extremely smart to bring the west coast offense along with Montana. Only thing he was missing was youth and offensive talent around him. Allen was the only legit player on offense. No threat at TE or WR and he still got them to the playoffs twice. Almost got them to the super bowl. Pretty incredible.

Somewhat forgotten in everything--this was the first regular season game at Arrowhead to be played on grass. They had artificial turf in their first 22 seasons there.

2:39 "Come Here Marcus.. Come here" Faintly in the backround. I think that's 49ers defenders trash talking Marcus Allen so loud it got picked up by a tv microphone lol

Marcus Allen and Joe Montana playing on the same team is funny because they played for bitter rivals in college (USC / Notre Dame)

This was a great game for Montana…he def won the battle on this day, but he didn’t win the war tho, this 9ers team went on to lose this game but won the SUPER BOWL(1994)🎯💯
