Some quarterbacks are "gunslingers" (e.g., Brett Favre, Bart Starr, Warren Moon, Patrick Mahomes, John Elway, etc.). Others are just smart guys with a strong arm (e.g., Peyton Manning, Aaron Rogers, etc.). Some are smart scramblers (Joe Montana, Russell Wilson, Steve Young, Roger Staubach, Steve McNair, etc.). A few are true duel-threat runners (e.g., Lamar Jackson, Michael Vick, etc.). However, some quarterbacks have that special "touch." They can just place that ball exactly where it needs to go. These are the rare breed of NFL QBs. I would include men like Tom Brady, Randal Cunningham, Sam Bradford (when he was healthy)...and Kurt Warner. While elite quarterbacks of any category are difficult to find, the lesser QBs in the same categories are still close enough to win games. However, the difference in the gap between those with the "touch" and those without it is pretty immense. Consequently, if I had to build a team, I'd first build it around someone with that "touch." In fact, I think that Kurt Warner is right up there (in terms of the gifted delivery of a football plus acumen) with Tom Brady. If the right coaches had known this, I think that he could have had multiple SB rings.

What was interesting to me is how much Kurt Warner was even better than his stats in this game. I saw so many dropped balls deflected off his wide receivers' hands and that was against one of the most vaunted defenses of the time. Kurt was a class act the whole way.

I just watched American Underdog on Netflix.It's one of the best stories not only in nfl but sports history. On top of that, Kurt Warner is such a great and humble guy. I wished he would have won a super bowl when he was with the Cardinals.

Yeah its a weird thing like its one those position cores you can get wrong : Dickerson, Faulk, Gurley
@tonymancini81705 жыл бұрын
@@kvngirvng9475 Don't forget Steven Jackson. Actually the franchise's all-time leading rusher and was such a beast in the 2000's with them. He had more single-season yards from scrimmage than any of them had with the Rams in '06 with 2,334 yards except for Faulk's '99 season. (Yes even more yards than Faulk's 2000 MVP campaign and Dickerson's 1984 2,000 yard rushing season) He isn't as good as any of those three, but definitely deserves a mention here.

Ray Lewis was a monster in this game. You can see the formation of an all-time great defense in this game. What they were missing was a solid QB. It seemed to always be a problem for the Ravens. Elvis Grbac was a total flop, Kyle Boller was a draft bust and Steve McNair was too old. It's not until they drafted Joe Flacco that they were able to win another Super Bowl. Lamar Jackson is the first franchise QB that they have had. Crazy to think about.

@dionr11684 жыл бұрын
Not only was he a dirty player, he also got busted buying HGH from the same facility that got raided by the Feds in the aftermath of the Chris Benoit tragedy, and promptly served a 4 game suspension for it. That suspension also coincided with his team getting busted in the Spygate scandal.

The Ravens had Priest Holmes BACKING UP Jamal Lewis, both in their primes. Everyone loves to bring up Trent Dilfer, Tony Banks, Elvis Grbac etc and say their offense was horrible. No their PASSING game was horrible.

They also had very little for receivers.

What a great team they had.. It was hard to root against those Rams. The storyline behind Kurt Warner as quarterback gave hope to "Joe Sandlot", and stoked dreams of that being us on the field. Too bad they didn't get a slew of Superbowl trophies.

@Lighthouse in the Storm I think at one time, or another, all of us may have had that thought. If it's true, then it's time for my team to win another Superbowl. This year will do just fine!

THE Greatest show on turf consists of Kurt Warner, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, and Marshall Faulk. They were led by OC Mike Martz, who went on be their head coach after Dick Vermeil retired

Martz was a horrible coach. Vermeil should've stayed.

Sports 311 Dick Vermeil was the real guy, Martz was just his “scheme guy”. He was a bad leader. Also Az Zahir Hakim was part of it until he blew that playoff game with the muffed punt
