Yeah,I remember when NYG spanked Denver in Super Bowl XXI. I think there was a lockout in '87 vs Washington and lost AGAIN vs SF. Geez,Denver couldn't get over the hump. I was happy for our former division rivals on winning a ring, it was clearly WELL deserved. That Broncos team was epic, (and was a bit banged up, no Von) but you could've given them 10 tries (WITH Von) and they wouldn't have beaten those Seahawks. Said at that moment he wanted to give all the money back.

@@Stacie45 Yes, Elway basically pioneered the modern day NFL Draft Day hype with his (apparently astute) refusal to play for the Baltimore Colts. He was perceived as a diva, particularly by Terry Bradshaw and the Steelers- and I can't blame them. But HOLY SMOKES should the Steelers have drafted Marino. INSANELY bad fortune in retrospect. But the Steelers did eventually draft a #7 of their own, and I'm sure you know, Ben didn't pick #7 by coincidence.

Pat: Marge and Lisa painting eggs- did that work for you? John: Oh, big-time! They came off the bench with a huge effort that allowed Homer and Bart to make some significant gains. Pat: Did it strike you as odd that in a Super Bowl show with Dolly Parton, we didn't see any football or singing? John: I hadn't thought about it, Pat. But in retrospect, it was kind of a rip-off. What a way to treat the loyal fans who've put up with so much nonsense from this franchise. Pat: Any final thoughts? John: Nah, I'm too mad. Let's get the heck out of here. Having a ton of pass attempts indicates that your team doesn't have the time to run the football, which is generally an indication that your team is getting absolutely annihilated. Denver's 0-3 record in Super Bowls in the 80's (no ironic quotations needed, those were the numerical seasons), while getting outscored 136-40, seems to back that up. #somuchforyourtheory

@@breiter4697 It would’ve been a more competitive Super Bowl with the Vikings for sure, but that begs the question- why weren't the Vikings there? The Broncos went 13-0 and finished 14-2. NFL mvp was Terrell Davis who ran for 2000 yds. The Vikings were good, but Broncos were definitely no slouches. Broncos gave up 19 (mostly garbage time) points to the Falcons on a neutral field. Vikings gave up 30 at home in the most important game of the year....

On the redzone play calling, that was actually Denver's defensive game plan. They were gonna let Atlanta move the ball on the ground between the 20s, but they would play the run tighter on 1st and 2nd and bring the house and make Chandler throw it if they wanted TDs.
