Deon was special. He’s the greatest CB by far. Nobody has even been close. He was a true shutdown corner, but if he got the ball the probability that he would take it to the house was so much higher than any defensive player EVER! He was a great returner for the same reasons. The only reason I give Bo the nod over Deon as greatest 2 star athlete was bc he was arguably the best baseball player at the time too. If he’d only played baseball he would have been. Deon was never as great at baseball. But obviously Deon having a full and long career makes it difficult to compare in the end. Bo barely got going. Ended career at his peak.

6:37 This run here is what makes Barkley so awesome to me. Reminds me of the old days. To have that type of strength, center of gravity, and just to have and display that type of balance and personal/physical awareness and control of his body is so amazing and reminiscent of the 90’s when we’d practice (or at least attempt to practice) keeping our balance as we ran with the ball in RB drills. Ball in one arm and then running practically in a 3 point stance. It’s a beautiful thing to watch back then. Great to see him doing it now.

I love hearing the unearthly stories about Darrell Green's speed, not just in his late NFL years but *well* after his retirement. Particularly running a 40 yard dash on his 50th birthday just for the heck of it and somehow coming up with 4.43 seconds. My one complaint: How can you show Chris Johnson and not show the one where Gus Johnson goes "He's got Running-Away-From-The-Cops Speed!!!" Actually two complaints... I feel Lawrence Taylor is a glaring omission. Even as a rookie he was destroying all opposing offenses, and he hardly dropped off from there.

I grew up in Alabama as a Bama fan and I’m about 12 years younger than Bo Jackson. *Look-up ESPN Sports Science Greatest All-Time Athletes contest where they analyzed film to measure speed, quickness, etc* Bo Jackson totally wrecked Bama, in particular in 1983 when he had 2 long TD runs of ~70 yards each. *Find Auburn vs Florida highlights in 1983. Bo had a 55 yard TD that I watched about 50 times in a row trying to figure out how a dude that big was that agile when he 1st caught the pitch from the QB* To top it all, I recently looked up his high school state track meet performance at Alabama State Meets, indoor & outdoor. -*15 Individual State Titles* during 3 years in high school (60 yard dash, 100 yard dash, high jump, long jump, triple jump, 120 yard hurdles, 330 yard hurdles, Decathelon) -*6 State Records* -*Won the team meet ALONE 1 year* based on his individual events -Won the Decathlon in 11th & 12th grade *while skipping 1 event each year* because his lead was so big he didn’t need the points

i think he did one time on that screen vs dallas where a guy was 7 yards in front of him with an angle and he still ran right by him. i feel like thats the only time in his entire career he approached 99% to 100% full speed for a second or so. he was just like prime time. he was so fast there was no need to run full speed. deion was faster than 90% of the league when he was high stepping and showboating down the field. even at 90% speed they couldnt run with moss, and even at 90% speed, he still outran the ball almost every single time. go watch his 40 yard td highlight reel. its nearly 20 minutes of underthrown passes that he has to sit and wait for the ball to get to him and the DBs catch up. the stark contrast in moss highlight reel, where you barely see any passes hit him in stride, vs that of jerry rice are astounding. the only time you see deep balls hitting moss in stride throughout 20 minutes of highlights is when he played for NE and a handful of passes from the other teams

Moss and Bo are the rarest of the athletes here. put them into todays NFL and they're instantly best at their position. Nobody moved as well in full football pads as Randy Moss. Of the handful of guys in his class for straight speed, none of them have his top-end speed, none of them could jump like he could, none of them are his height at 6'4, and only a few of them could change direction like he could. Bo Jackson was an epic straight line burner, bit quicker initially than Moss though not quite the same top speed, much stronger than Moss though couldn't cut like Moss could.

people do not understand how fast that man was. he won the gold medal in a pair of borrowed track spikes that didnt even fit him because he forgot his, while running on the inside lane of a chewed up cinder track because they had already ran a bunch of long distance events where all the sprinters hug the inside lane for most of the race. on a synthetic track with modern spikes, and modern training tech, he would obliterate any NFL athlete from any era in a 100m race. it wouldnt even be close. he would make DK metcalf look like a slug and beat him by 0.7 seconds in a 100m race.

yep, every one of these threads contains a comment just to shit on emmit. Yet, none of emmit's highlight films have anything to do with his o-line. Just him making the defense miss or just plowing right over them. Barry gets the consolation prize of praise by every cowboys hater cause he didn't get super bowls or records like emmit did.
