I find it interesting that NFR approaches each album and artist as fans and trying to very personally understand the creative underpinnings of each project, while Anthony approaches his reviews more from a more technical, more critic’s perspective. Marks the difference between a commentator and a critic, and both are equally needed in this space. Great job fellas.

Swimming by Mac Miller literally had the highest like to dislike ratio of any video he's ever had. It wasn't localized to his hardcore fans at all. It was pretty big at the time, I remember it well

I think care for me - saba had a worse ratio actually, but I think what he was trying to say is that it was innitially his hardcore fans but then macs passing caused a ton of people to visit the album and then his review

Idk kinda find it weird how Fantano just didn't pick up on any of the lyrics on this and Faces too when it came out. He called Swimming emotionally vacant at the time, was so weird to me

I find fantano comments on NWTS SXSW DJ set so funny because that album WAS MY WHOLE SUMMER, me and all my friends. We played the whole thing at every cookout we had, it was life at the time. Of course people dancing in a circle to 90s hip hop isn’t going to vibe but that was a special moment and album. Some people just don’t get it.

As far as mbdtf having problems vs being iconic, I think both of those can easily be true. If anything I feel like a hypothetical "perfect" album wouldn't really have as much of an impact; It wouldn't leave a direction for people to try and follow as they try and get around its flaws.
