One thing about this game that I think goes slightly unappreciated is the SOUND. Like when a rival car is next to you, you can hear their engine and the driver going through the gears. Furthermore, you can hear exactly WHAT SIDE of you they are... you can hear them swerving back from left to right trying to pass you. And each car has a unique sound too. If its a Porsche chasing you, you can tell. If its a Lambo, you can tell. The roar of the Ferrari, the whine of the Aston Martin, the growl of the Pontiac Firebird... You can tell the difference for them all without looking behind you. It used to give me anxiety as a child LOL! Absolutely amazing. Especially for a game in 2001.

Little tip for anyone wanting to play this game. Buy the Z3 as your first car. This way you can enter the Z3 challenge in the special events section after this race.

Looking back now, this seems pretty cathartic to me. I've got shivers down my spine everytime I hear the music, or watching the gameplay. Original PlayStation had the best games of all time. I'm getting overly emotional now, lmao.

I loved how you can turn on-off blinkers, lights and radio, also the deep sound of bmw, the tracks and trophies and how I was the fastest among my friends, great memories :D

Even if it was not trying to be the real driving simulator. The graphics are drop dead gorgeous and it's a very immersive experience in it's own right. No need for a remake here. It's one of a kind.

oh god the PS1 racing games graphics 🤮 i remember hating it at that time. My school mates used to tell me it looked better than on Pc with VooDoo2. sure. No ZBuffer, No anisotropic filters and 320xpotato resolution. But still, the actual physics where better on psone than the pc version.
