A review on the latest Need for Speed entry and why I think its future is not looking too bright.

Thank you! I definitely need to be quicker with my uploads. I feel like most conversation around this game is pretty much dead atp so I wasn’t too worried with an algorithm hit on this one. I’m learning more editing skills so once I reach a decent standard & and a future video topic gathers interest, its bound to happen at some point.

Solid video, but to me the title doesn't really seem to match the content in this video. The title made me think this was going to be a critique video, but it's much more of an overview/review type video instead.

Yeah this was def more intended as a general review, the initial plan was to make a quick rundown of those problems, till I elaborated further in the script and decided to just talk about every aspect in the end.

Unbound is the first street racing/car customization need for speed I haven't played and have no interest in playing, 2015 was boring, payback was boring, the last one I can never remember the name of was boring, and this one just looks like more of the same with only marginal "improvements". I just don't care anymore, I'm so much more excited to download the pepega mod for pro street and play it next time my mates come over, or play trough underground 1&2, most wanted or carbon for the 1000th time, at least those games I can play for more than an hour before being bored out of my mind.

31:48 "Video game development has seems to become more and more diffcult" No it hasn't. Video game development has gotten more and more accessible than it was decades ago within a PS2/SEGA era. I will never imagine a game engine like Unreal been that freely accessible to anyone. That you and I can jump into being solo game developers if we really wanted to. The issue isn't that games are difficult to make nowadays. The issue is them purposely bloating there studios to appease investors and mismanagement of development resources. It the reason we got games like battlefield 2042 with all those studios and million of dollar behind it. But they were fucking around half of their development time. Then EA force them to push out the game to not piss off their investors. Which we got the buggy mess of a game at launch.

I maybe should’ve specified it to Triple A. Game dev is 100% easier to get into today. What I meant is that big budget releases tend to now end up much bigger than generations before and thus have more time, money, & developers put into them. There‘s a lot more work being put into your average modern-day open world title than there was in the PS3/360 era for example (regardless of which title ends up being more enjoyable or not). However mismanagement is another aspect that didn‘t mention. No idea if that was the case for Unbound though but it doesn‘t seem like it.

@@ptrcrispy That why I also mention bloat off studio. They can brag about how they have 3000 devs, 3 years, millions of dollar behind it. To end up getting outplay by three 16 year olds devs who offer a better gameplay experience then triple A. So the question that should be asked; we're are all those resources going into? Because it seem to not fully go into development. As for the case of unbound, it was confliction of art direction and lack of innovation. Like you mentioned within the video you can obviously see they wanted to go all out with the cell shading art direction. But one director wanted to play it safe and reuse the asset that Ghost Game left after departure. So you get this game that conflicting with two style that look like a came out half ass then finished.

This game kinda sucks played it is like a nsf heat upgrade is some way and a downgrade in others. I am in the remaster underground boat because I think its one of the only ways to try and safe this game franchise and maybe get a new game engine if you arent going to use this engine for its full potential.

Heat with some upgrades and downgrades puts it perfectly imo. I think I prefer Heat but its just an edge above Unbound. I wouldn’t mind an Underground remaster but as a PC play I’m not sure if I need it. The graphics still look nice, a crack isn’t too hard to find and installing the one or two mods that fixes most issues and "modernizes" the ports more it’s perfectly fine for me. Especially since all those games got a large modding community currently.
