Man, engine sounds in underground were really bad. That doesn’t sound anything like a stock miata.

Agreed. Not sure who they hired to R&D cars back then. It seems like all the R&D did was watch Fast and Furious movies and that's it. The sounds of their cars were based on category. There was that same sound used for the Golf, Eclipse, Integra, RSX, 240SX, S2000, Lancer, Celica. Another for the Civic, Miata, Sentra, 206. Another for the Supra, Tiburon, Impreza WRX. And then the supposed "2F2F Skyline Sound" for the R34, 350Z, RX7 Classic example: The sound they had for the RX7 is purely based on watching The Fast and Furious 1. The one with Vin Diesel's RX7. They went with its sound even if the sound used for the film itself was from a 2JZ/1JZ/RB engine from either a Supra or a Skyline. Would do a bit of justice if it claimed to have a 20B but it's said it has the original 13B engine. Watching the film itself, it doesn't sound like a 13B. Playing NFSU1, it doesn't sound like a 13B as well.

It's funny because all tutorial cars had original sounds except for the skyline which had the 2f2f sound. My guess is that it was a last second screw up where they couldn't get most of the right sounds so they just used what they had
