【Nゲージ規格鉄道模型】KATO 189系 L特急あさま・マリンシティーあさま・そよかぜ・急行妙高/189 Series Limited Express "Asama＆Soyokaze"

かつて東北本線・高崎線・信越本線を経由し、上野と長野・妙高高原・直江津を結んだ189系のL特急「あさま」です。1990年から1997年までの姿です。
この編成の「あさま」は固定9両のN101から109の編成で、いわゆる「デラックス車」のN201から207編成とは区別されており、増結はされることなく関東と信越を結びました。グレードアップ編成より遅れてあさま色に変更されたため、最後まで国鉄色で運転されたものもありました。
上野以外にも古河行の「ホームライナー」の他、横浜始発の「マリンシティーあさま」というのも設定されていました。また、N109編成には485系から改造されたクハ188形という先頭車が存在し、国鉄色時代は塗装の高さで、あさま色になってからは窓の高さとドア下の凸で見分けがつきます。(残念ながら動画には登場しません)
また、シーズンの行楽客向けに、上野から中軽井沢、末期には上田までを結んだ「そよかぜ」、そして1993年まで夜間に上野と長野・直江津を結んだ急行「妙高」も設定されましたが、あさま色としてはわずかながらの運用でした。
横軽廃止後、「あさま」の愛称を新幹線に譲った後は、大月駅の衝突事故の影響もあり、1年弱あさま色のまま中央東線の特急「あずさ」として活躍し、「あずさ」による189系の運用が終了すると、編成を短くしたのち、所属する長野近辺での「ホームライナー」としてや「ムーンライト信州」、快速列車や団体臨時列車など、様々な方面で活躍しました。
グレードアップ車両は次々と廃車されてしまう中、こちらの編成は2019年まで生き残り、碓氷峠を知る生き証人としても活躍しました。
